Anyone else "counting on" a snow day for Wednesday? UPDATE POST 74

I made it to work this morning but it's really coming down. We might get to leave early.

Here in CT, that's all everyone is talking about. We're expecting anywhere between 6-14". After Friday's early dismissal debacle (a couple of bus accidents and our staff having a very difficult time getting home), it's almost assured we'll have no school regardless of exactly how much snow we get. The downside.....I have 10 tickets to Disney on Ice Wed. night to take all my nieces and nephews. :guilty:

Nutmegger here, too! :goodvibes I'm fairly positive that there will be no school tomorrow. DH & I made a grocery run yesterday and he just called and put in a Blockbuster order (Who knew he was interested in seeing "The Social Network"?). He even broken down and bought a snow blower at Home Depot yesterday ... Just what he needs. Another toy. ;)

:sad1: Sorry about Disney on Ice.

My grandson was sent home yesterday (Monday) with his homework for the entire week and told that they should do it all on Wednesday so they will be done and won't have to do it on Thursday night. They were told that there will be no school on Wednesday. Official announcement was not made but someone did say this over the intercome when school was letting out.
the one good thing is that the plows are going by the house right now trying to widen the path they should have made wider last week. We got a one plow width down our side street and the cars have to pull over to pass each other since the strip is so narrow.

That wouldn't even give us a 2 hour late start-we have had ONE snow day in 5 years. If the snow started in the evening, fell overnight, it would be plowed enough for school to start on time. We need about 12 inches dumped from about 3 AM to 6am for a snow day to get called

We haven't had a snow day yet (this school term). Our superintendent is from Buffalo.:rotfl: This storm is supposed to start getting good after 1A and continue through the day on Wednesday. The kids are optimistic but not convinced. Our area has lots of hills and windy roads that dont see a plow till the main roads are clean.

Another Nutmegger checking in! I love to see so many of us on here! We are expecting 12 - 18 and we will most likely have a snow day. DD9 will love that. I will work from home so no break for me :o( I will hit the store tonight, but since I just need to get some snacks, it wont be bad to get in and out! Stay safe everyone!

Right now they are saying that it will be worse in the east and less towards the NY border. Also, they are saying that it will be tapering off to light snow showers in the afternoon. What show are you going to and where are you coming from?

I hope it works out for you and you all get to go. We saw them Saturday in Hartford.

The forecast for us is about a foot of snow. It is suppose to start tonight and end tomorrow afternoon. The schools have been telling the kids there will probably be no school tomorrow.

DS is definitely looking forward to a potential day off.

I'm a little nervous that his school will close, but the one I'm scheduled to sub at won't. - But I think it's much more likely that they both will, and I'm letting myself tentatively look forward to a nice day with him.

DH, however, is completely dreading it, as the snowblower is not working.

Another CT resident here. A few random districts have already cancelled for tomorrow. I don't even know where Bozrah is---I'm guesing the quiet corner.

I'm kind of looking forward to it, but I wish it were on another day. I work in a school, and although I would have to work a full day regardless, the kids are scheduled for early dismissal. I really need that time to catch up on some stuff.

Yay! Our district just called off school for tomorrow! :) Groceries bought... we have gas for the snowblower.... hot chocolate and reading material.... all set! Just keeping my fingers crossed that we don't lose power since we're in the 10"-14" zone and are expecting 40+mph winds!!!

Another not setting the alarm clock. We're in the 15" category starting after midnight.

Some schools around us have already cancelled for tomorrow. My DH will be out plowing-white gold he calls it;)

Dr Mel on channel 8 said during the noon news "Tell the kids they don't have to do their homework tonight." I relayed this message to my kids, but added "Your mother says do it anyways."

;)

Rhode Island here. Most schools have shut down for tomorrow. They don't know what the state will get. They said it could be anywhere from 0 to 20 inches depending on the track.
Once the governor shut down government offices (including community college) except for essential staff, the school and business closings tripled.

Classes haven't started back up for me yet so I was having a snow day tomorrow whether anything was cancelled or not.

I am going to spend the day writing syllabi.

We just got our Robo-Call telling us that there is no school tomorrow. We also got the email calling off DS's CCD class tomorrow night. We went to the market yesterday, so we are all set.

I'm off tomorrow anyway. DH may have to go to work tomorrow, we'll see what happens.

Robo Call just came in - no school tomorrow!

Just got the call here too..no school tomorrow..that means no work for me tomorrow either!! We are in the 16-24" prediction I think too.
