anyone else checking the computer obsessively for new codes?

This is unhealthy and maddening. Even my nine year old is now asking, "have any discounts come out yet?" I was going to purchase AP's but now I am not so sure.........

JadedNYer,

That is too funny-your nine year old asking about discounts. I needed a good laugh this morning.

I'm just going to wait and see what they offer. You can always buy your AP at the last minute, right?

I also have a 9 year old who asks about new codes on a daily basis. We are going in Nov. and my kids really want to stay at the Polynesian again but were told that "Mommy would have to be able to get a good rate." I keep telling them they will have to wait until at least July but it's still the first question when they return home from school. What have I done to my poor children?!(LOL)

I know how you feel. We made our first trip to DW last summer and stayed at the Polynesian. My boys want to go back there too. I am thinking of doing a split stay between AKL and WL though. I say the same thing, "mommy has to get a good rate."

My five year old just keeps saying he will tell me where he wants to stay when he gets to DW. It's kind of difficult to explain that it doesn't exactly work that way.

What is frustrating is (if I remember correctly) is that some discounts and some semi-decent packages came out in mid-April of last year. I spent last year's Spring break agonizing over whether I had chosen the "right" resort.

Do you think we would get an email if we already have a room only reservation? Most of the emails are tied to our home address in our profiles at the Disney site.
When I called CRO last week they were able to track my room only reservation by my home phone number.

If all these systems are linked I doubt any one with a room only reservation will recieve an email. Why offer a discount if you are already booked? They want us to work for it. If any one has recieved an email to apply to an already booked reservation please post it, We would be interested.

If no one has received an email code who already has a reservation, I might create a new profile using my work address
at the Disney site with a hotmail Email acct.
This would make me look like a new user to their marketing computer. Wich probably targets of all the discounts to new Disney fans.
Just a thought.

Just got off the phone w/ CRO because I needed to change my address of where they mail me postcards....this is what they told me:
The woman told me " Don't worry about receiving a postcard, because what you will want to lookout for is commercials during primetime television and PARTICULARLY in this Sundays major newspapers. They are kicking off a HUGE promotion starting this week"
WOW! Lets keep our fingers crossed!

This is exactly why I started our subscription. Same place I found the codes last year. Of course they were out the first of April!

Would someone be so kind as to tell me WHERE you are checking for the codes? Mousesaver.com? Is there somewhere else to look?

We are planning our second trip to WDW after having JUST returned from our first trip (April 2003) and are going through the process of weighing pros and cons of an AP and working the codes. (We believe we will be able to return within a year for our third visit so we'll get value from that side of the AP, but aren't sure how much effort we should put into a discounted rate on the room.)

Is the deal that you make your reservation for your resort as far ahead as possible, and then watch the codes and hope one comes out -- then call back to CRO to update your reservation to reflect the lower price? Or, do you have to wait to make your reservation until the code is out?

I REALLY appreciate any insights on this process; our goal is not to risk not getting the resort/quality of room that we want by waiting for codes that would result in giving us a less expensive room that we don't really like. Does that make sense?

Gee, this makes dealing to buy a new car look easy ;-)

a very helpful CM named Sawyer hinted in a major way to me to keep on alert to my EMAIL address. They asked me for it when I modified the ressie so I'm hoping for some pixie dust!!!! BTW-changed from All-Stars to Poly and ouch, I need a bigger discount than AAA!!!

Bleeps, Most people make their ressie and then apply the AP code when it becomes available. If you book it through Dreams Unlimited on this website, they will make the changes for you at no extra charge.

I know this means nothing but I had to change a few things around with CRO and the nicest CM said she wished she could tell me all the details but she just couldn't. She said the new discounted packages should be out before May 7 and to keep an eye on the newspaper and tv. She said it would be for room and tickets.

I just had to say that I just can't take this suspense anymore! I can't wait until Sunday to check the papers!

How I wish the CM I had today had been a little more helpful....I went ahead and booked a room-only with DC--backup in case we decide to stay on the monorail for MNSSHP :) I wonder just how great these rates are going to be....they will have to be really good to sway my interest from the Dolphin.....

I guess we just keep checking....

I am amazed that they can keep something like this under wraps. I can't believe someone in the know has not told someone with a big mouth. How can people keep their mouths shut?

I just got an email from Dreams Unlimited travel agency- they are showing a special for "Disneyland" where you get the fourth night free and a 5 day park hopper for the price of a 3 day park hopper. So maybe this is a sample of what kind of specials they will be offering for Disney world. Don't know just thought it sounded a lot like some of the comments you guys made. Still waiting for DW discounts! :)

With this news report that came out yesterday , They have to be comming out with codes soon.

Reuters, 5/1/03

Walt Disney Co. reported a fall in quarterly earnings on Thursday as war and a weak economy kept visitors away from its theme parks and its ABC television network continued to limp behind in the ratings race.
Burbank, California-based Disney posted a fiscal second-quarter net profit of $229 million or 11 cents per share in the quarter ended March 31, compared with $259 million or 13 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.

Still waiting
