Staying 12-30th JULY at SSR just got off the phone booking POP CENTURY for my 13yo DD on the weekends $154 for two nights
Now just the Ap to pay for.

We're going to use AP rates in October (the CM told me today that those rates would be available in June). Anyway, I was wondering if any other DVC members out there actually paid for rooms at WDW. We want to go this October, but will be bringing my entire family next October, will need a GV, and have already borrowed most of 2005's points. So we are going to use our AP to get good rates and actually pay for a room at the Poly this October. We've never stayed there.

We do. We might stay several nights on points, then spend a night or two at a non-DVC resort. Or, like later this month after our cruise, we are only spending one night (a Saturday) and it definitely worked better to pay cash AP rate rather than use points.

Sometimes I like staying at AKL or the Polynesian or whatever, and it doesn't usually work financially to use points. (I am spoiled to the size and amenities of the villas, though, so I don't want to stay non-DVC for a long stretch.) :D

We bought DVC so we didn't have to pay for the resorts. That being said, we did stay one night at AKL on an AP rate when we couldn't get our OKW ressie extended.

I did, I booked 1 night at Vero for my mother. I am staying on points, and had the 2nd room we need booked on members discount.
But.... the Ap rate was about $40 lower so I booked that instead.

We are going 7 nights last week of August. Staying in a 2 bedroom @ OKW. We have the first night August 28th on a cash ressie (me and sis are splitting the room cost). I called today and a 2 bedroom with an AP discount was only 18% off. I booked through MS with a member discount of 25% off. I guess MS was a better deal THIS time!:smooth:

This is interesting. Before I purchased, I posted a question on the boards about using an A.P. for good rates versus buying into DVC. I got the same answer pretty much across the board--that buying into DVC and buying an A.P. weren't mutually exclusive--in fact, many, if not most DVCers, buy the A.P., too, it seems.

I haven't done that yet but am considering it and know that if I do, I will find it difficult not to add on a few days with an A.P. discount.

DVC for me was supposed to be INSTEAD of paying cash for a room.

If I get an A.P. though, I don't know if I will be able to resist!

:teeth:

Since I'm squeezing two trips this year out of my meagre 150 pts plus some from next year, I did book 2 nights at POR for Fri and Sat nights before I move to BWV.

I booked 2 nights with the AP code. One for our first night as Pop, as we drive straight thru from Delaware and arrive late at night. The next am I will go check into our 2BR at the BW. Then we decided to stay one night after our DVC ressies at POFQ. My sister is staying in the 2 BR with us, and we decided to stay one more night. I have a goal to stay at all the resorts, even if just for a night.

Yes we did too. We are going for 10 nights at OKW, but wanted to add another 5 nights at the Poly, our other fav place to stay. We were very happy when AP rates came out yesterday. We were able to book 5 nights at Poly Concierge before heading to our "home" . We do this every year. Although we absolutely adore our home at OKW (and we have since 1991) we also enjoy being pampered by staying concierge. That's the great thing about Disnney, everyone can do their own "thing"!!!!

yes, we are staying our first two nights (fri and sat) at the poly before moving to the bwv.

i booked a fri, sat night in june a couple of months ago. If I call today and ask about AP rates, will they be cheaper? I think I am paying $350 for an OKW studio for the two nights using a florida resident, disney visa discount. On points it would have been $480.

will they refund overpayments if the AP rate is better? thanks

christine

also, do you have to have the AP when you check in? I only have a seasonal pass.

We just got the AKL pool view for $135 last night!!

Seasonal passes are fine for the AP discount. That's what I've always used in the past, but our dates this year are during a blackout period, so I'm most likely going to buy a PAP.

We are DVC members too who pay for rooms sometimes. This trip will be a long one for us--2 weeks. We are splitting up our stay some DVC, some resorts.
May 29 Pop Century (we dont get in till 11 pm--not wasting weekend points on that) AP discount
May 30-June 4 2 bdrm BWV
June 4-7 Royal Pacific Resort (gotta in our Universal stay ;) )
June 7-12 Poly concierge with extended family (got to get in some pampering too! :p ) also AP discount
