Anyone else anti-tatoo?

If people want one, it's their business.

I can't imagine all these people when they get old. How hideous are those tattoos going to look? I have never seen an attractive one ever on anyone young or old, but they'll look even worse on an old body.

I don't like tattoos at all, and would never get one. My DH has four, and I feel they so much mar the beauty of his arms, and are sooo ugly. I've never seen a tattoo I thought was pretty or looked nice. What's weird is my DH doesn't like tattoos on women either, and says it makes them look trashy. I know he regrets getting his tattoos. I think there will be a whole lot of young people with tattoos wanting them removed when they get a little older. I'm just thankful they weren't popular when I was young, or I possibly would have gotten one too, since I was very much a rebel.

I did have a patient's husband who after 50 years of marriage got her name in a heart on his arm. I thought it was cute, that after 50 years he 'finally' committed to her


I have 1 tattoo....on the top of my foot (yes, it hurt). I got it there as the skin on the foot tends not to stretch too much and I could hide it if needed. It will most likely be the only one I ever get.

It is an angel with it's hand held out with 2 butterflies. The angel in for my angel baby in my sig, and the 2 butterflies are for my living boys in my sig. I will NEVER regret getting it!

I second this question. Before I got pregnant I was 115 lbs, far from fat. I have one on my leg and getting one on my other leg once I have the baby.

I think it bothers me when someone says that people with tattoos look trashy or dirty. Substitute some other physical attributes for "people with tattoos" and it can sound pretty bad.

I also don't see having a tattoo the same way as wearing certain earrings or a specific shirt. Tattoos are a bit more difficult to change!

I don't get why some people are saying that others are getting tattoos that are "meaningless." How on earth do you know what their meanings are for them?

A ton of people in my town, teens included, have gotten purple rose tattoos in support of a sweet girl with cystic fibrosis. Just someone seeing them on the street wouldn't know the meaning of the purple rose, but they most certainly do have meaning to the people who got them.

Although I don't have a tattoo, I have nothing against them at all. I like ones that are really well done. I wouldn't mind getting one if I could ever decide on a design that had meaning to me.

I go back and forth on this. Back when I got TLC, I would watch Miami Ink and went through a phase where I wanted one. My problem is I want to return to Disney entertainment and a tattoo in an area not covered by a swimsuit would limit my roles. And I am not letting somebody I don't know tatto an area that would be covered by a swimsuit.

There is some gorgeous work out there, but so much is "flash" and just looks tacky, imo. One CP, my roommate went out and got a star on the top of her foot. It was a spur of the moment decision and it definitely looked like it. It looked faded from day 1 and was obviously done by some cheap artist.

What makes me sad are the people who have hard to cover ones. I work at a theme park with grooming standards that are almost identical to the Disney look. They include no visible tattoos. Tattoos can only be covered by clothing or make up- no bandages. I had one crew member who had a tattoo on the skin between her thumb and index finger. It was impossible for her to keep covered and cost no end of issues. Another crew member has a large one on her calf and has to either wear pants or knee socks. Workers with sleeves have to wear long sleeves to cover them. There was one guy I worked with in Disney Entertainment. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He has full sleeves, and whenever he is a parade captain, he has to wear a leotard under his clothes. It looks horribly hot. I'm glad they like their tattoos, but I've always wondered if they regret them when they are forced to wear long pants and sleeves in 100+ degree weather.

There already are. Not a day goes by that my dermatologist BIL doesn't get somebody in his office wanting to remove a tattoo. Because it often doesn't yield good results, can be painful and isn't covered by insurance, he encourages them not to do the removal, but many have come to regret the tattoos enough to go through with it.

I was in the ATT store yesterday - our usual rep was there, looked nice in a suit - he had gotten married recently, showed me a couple of wedding/honeymoon pics - those were nice until I got to the beach pic - his arms were covered by tattoos - ick!

I went to the zoo with my niece yesterday and there was a woman there wearing a Kenny Chesney tshirt. It was just disgusting and it made me lose my lunch. I hope my niece didn't see it, because she's probably a hick.

My 23 year old nanny has several tattoos (back, both wrists, ankle, and tummy). She also has several piercings and I never know what color her hair is going to be when she walks in. She is the sweetest person and my kids love her.

I live in a fairly conservative suburban area, so she has raised some eyebrows, but she is dependable, trustworthy and so wonderful to my kids and that matters more than if she dresses from the LL Bean catalog.

I don't have any tattoos and don't plan on getting any. But I certainly don't judge people in any particular way for them.

Anytime I see someone with a visible tattoo, I think that there's someone who is going to have a rich dermatologist. Fast forward a number of years and just imagine all these 80 year olds with their tats!

I certainly don't judge anyone for having them. And I can appreciate the art work behind it. I loved watching LA Ink, they were incredible artists. HOwever, I do not like them and to me they look dirty. Like the guy on LA Ink that had them on his neck. I always had the urge to jump through the TV and scrub his neck. But he has a great artist. I would just rather see it on canvas. JMHO

If you substitute physical attributes that are not intentional, I agree that it sounds bad. Saying someone looks trashy or dirty because of their race, weight, birthmarks or height would be awful. On the other hand, if you substitute "sleeveless t-shirts", "Crocs", "makeup", "dreadlocks" or even . . . uh, how to say it? . . . some female "augmentation surgery" (each of which which I find to be comparable to tattoos, since they all are entirely voluntary) then I think it's reasonable that some people will think they look trashy or dirty, while others will think they look attractive or beautiful. It's just a matter of personal taste.

Tattoos are definitely much more difficult to change than most other personal adornments (other than those stretched earlobes and some cosmetic surgery), which is one reason people ought to be very careful when deciding to get them. As upset as people get about a bad haircut, I imagine the regret would be unbelievable if someone ended up with a bad tattoo! Of course, after clicking through one ugly tattoo website (which I can't link to; it's not family friendly) it seems lots of people end up with really horrifying tattoos.

I got my first tattoo at age 47. Do I care what it looks like when I'm 80? Um, no. LOL! I figured at that age I'm going to look pretty old anyway so who cares if I have a tattoo. DH and I had always wanted one so we did it and I'm so glad I did. I got a ankle tattoo where the flowers go all the way around. DH got a black hole sun on his calf and it looks awesome. I am going next week to get my second tattoo. A small butterfly on the top of my other foot. I can't wait!

To look at us you wouldn't think we are the type to get tattoos as far as stereotyping goes. We own our own engineering firm and all of our friends are non tattoo wearing professionals. LOL! We are quite happy with our decision though.

I don't like tattoos. I find them extremely distasteful to look at, and if I'm dealing with someone in a service position who has visible tattoos, then yes, it is sometimes enough to send me elsewhere the next time around. That's free enterprise for you; the merchant is free to have tattoos or hire someone who does, and I'm free to take my business elsewhere so that I don't have to see them for a prolonged period of time. (And before someone equates that with racism, the analogy does not hold -- no one chooses to be a particular race or gender, but they do choose to get a tattoo, and they do choose to show it on the job. Choices have consequences.)

The presence of a tattoo is a deal-breaker for me in an intimate context -- completely and permanently kills the mood. (In my head all I can see are needles.) DH finds tattoos just as distasteful as I do, perhaps even more so.

I think they look HOT on guys! My husband has many, on females however a couple are ok but covered in them is a bit much to me... I know I sound like a reverse sexist (which I am not quite the opposite actually) But it just doesn't look soo cute to me... But to each your own, I don't treat people differently because of it, It's just not for me... I don't have any at all

whatever your opinion on tattoos, I urge parents to NOT allow them on teens. they are permanent.
I allowed my sons to get their ears pierced, have crazy hair styles, dye their hair strange colors. my youngest BEGGED me let him have a tattoo. that is permanent.
I refused. (he was a drummer, and wanted drumsticks across his back).. boy, is he ever grateful to me now!!
but even if it had been something small, I would refuse.

earrings, hairstyle, etc. , can be changed.

now, I am not stating my opinion of tattoos one way or the other. I am saying that a person should be 18 years old to decide to put soemthing permanent on their body.
