Anyone Eaten At Trail's End?????

We ate dinner at TE last year and my son has requested that we go there for his birthday dinner during our next trip in February. That's saying a lot, considering he's an extremely picky 11 year old.

I thought the price was good and the food was fresh and the buffet was constantly refilled when items ran low.

No complaints at all. We will definitely be going back.

Wow! Sounds great! I have been trying to find out what everyone thinks.

One of my friends swears by it, but the reviews on Allears weren't all that favorable.

We just booked it, and I heard they use the same kitchen as Hoop. If the food is the same or as good as Hoop, I know my DH and my 11YO DS will be thrilled!

Ate dinner here last summer...we loved it! Another thumbs up for Gary!! :thumbsup2 We had the DDP (when tip was included) and still left him extra. The only minor complaint I had was the lack of the bread pudding on the menu..allears said it would be there. Definitely give it a try! :goodvibes

We were there not too long ago and had a great experience...The food was very good and we liked the down home choices...We did not like the dessert much but that was okay because we had so much at dinner we did not need the dessert...Our server was very nice...Place was clean...Liked the very relaxed atmosphere.

Yes, it's the same kitchen as the HDR, the buffet offers the same chicken, ribs, potatoes, and corn bread, along with a TON of other stuff.

We just got back from out trip and ate at TE for both breakfast and dinner, yummy! We just LOVE it, and always eat their multiple times on our trips.

and I agree, the secret is out! :)

I believe that it has been reported that the negative review on AllEars was from a single off night - every restaurant has them.

We love TE and eat there often. Also check into the Chip and Dale movie nights. You can watch a short Chip and Dale show, toast s'mores over campfires (fixins are availble there) and then watch a Disney movie. All outdoors and lots of fun! :thumbsup2

I've already mentioned that to DH! I tried to get a late ressie, so it would be dark when we got out, and we could go to the movie.

How far is the movie from the restaurant? Can it be walked or do we have to take a bus?

We are Disney veterans and have eaten at many, many restaurants on property. One place we saw that we have never tried was the Trail's End restaurant at Fort Wildreness. We have a 4 and 5 year old. We booked a dinner on our upcoming trip in a few weeks. We are on the free dining. Anyone eaten here before? What is it like? Did you enjoy it?

We have taken the boat from MK many times to enjoy lunch at Trail's End.
Usually when we are NOT on the ddp because it is really affordable for
OOP.
The restaurant is small but comfy..very casual.
The buffet had enough selection to satisfy, but don't expect
a buffet like the Larger Resorts.
The food was good. Nice when you are looking for BBQ
The best part was,,when you are full, and done....walk out to the
porch and park on a Rocker and watch the Beautiful Pheasants
walk around...Very peaceful and quiet.:)

We like to eat at TE too. We stay at the BC so we go to MK and hop on the boat. It's a nice ride. I agree the price is better than other places and we enjoy the food.

DS is picky and since they don't have chicken tenders on the buffet we just tell the server (Gary is GREAT) and he'll bring a nice sized portion of tenders and steak fries.

We were there on July 1 this year and it was really nice.

Oh and it is the only place OP we have found that offers sweet tea. :thumbsup2

We will be going to TE for the first time this trip, as it is the first time we have been able to stay at the Wilderness Lodge Villas and figure we can take the boat over there. Both our DVC membership and the annual passholder discount give 10% off at TE for breakfast or lunch, but a cold sandwich bar doesn't appeal to me, so lunch is the least appealing.

I can't decide whether to go for breakfast, or for the dinner that doesn't have the discount. I understand the dinner is basically the same food as the Hoop Dee Doo - they share a kitchen - and the time we went to HDD, I loved the food... but now am worried by some comments here that it has changed and "too dry" - I do think the Dining Plan has completely ruined a lot of the WDW restaurant experiences (for instance, Epcot's French restaurant), so maybe it has changed.

I'm so excited to have something new to do each trip, however. I did see this buffet in the Disney on a Dime show on the Travel Channel today and it prompted me to call and make a ressie. But after I learned only dinner has the fried chicken, I was thinking of changing from a breakfast to a dinner ressie until I read some comments here, pro breakfast and not so thrilled by the dinner. Any comments, feel free to PM me. :hippie:
