We are Disney veterans and have eaten at many, many restaurants on property. One place we saw that we have never tried was the Trail's End restaurant at Fort Wildreness. We have a 4 and 5 year old. We booked a dinner on our upcoming trip in a few weeks. We are on the free dining. Anyone eaten here before? What is it like? Did you enjoy it?

We usually stay at WL and we go there quite often. Trail's End has some of the best and cheapest buffet on property. Carved meats, pizza, chili, corn bread, it's all to die for. A tradition for us the first night is to hit Crocketts Tavern, same building, small bar below the main dining area. Pizza and beer!

Breakfast at Trails End is great, they make a breakfast pizza, no tomato sauce but a pizza shell with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage on top, fantastic. You'll not be disappointed, I hear they switched up the lunch deal, not to sure what it is but we'll be there in 18 days.

I love to eat at Trails End, the only problem is the distance to get to it! Great Viddles! :thumbsup2

Lunch is now a Cold Buffet with cold sandwich meats, etc.:)

If you are staying at the Contemporary, it's a wonderful experience to take the little boat across to FW to eat at TE!

Oh darn our secret is out. This is the best value at WDW and the food is good and can't be beat. I always make a point to eat here at least once every trip.

I know I'm in the minority here. But tried it once, won't go back. Dried out chicken, tough ribs. I could go on. It's all a matter of taste. Try it, if you don't like it, you haven't wasted a lot of money.

You should check out recent threads on the Disney Restaurant forum. I think there have been some not-so-great reviews lately. Unfortunately, if you are going during free dining, you might not have a lot of choices left.

Check over on the camping board, there are FW regulars there.

I had lunch there before the change, it was very good.

We love Trails End. Nice comfortable place with good food. We love the boatride from VWL. Enjoy!

We go to Trail's End several times during our stays (we stay at FW). For me, it's kind of a hit and miss.

Definitely a great value for the food. The breakfast buffet is THE BEST.

Lunch, I'm not sure...haven't been down since they changed it to soups/salads/sandwiches.

Dinner...it's okay, I guess. The rest of my family LOVE it. For me, it tastes really good, but it makes my stomach hurt. I'm not a fan of the pizza, but then again, I'm really picky when it comes to pizza.

I'd definitely say try it. It's a nice relaxed environment, and more than likely, you'll enjoy the food, too. It's all a matter of taste. :)

Our family loves it!! Big D is one of the nicest servers! He remembers our family whenever we go. I know I know he could fake it, but he takes a double take when we walk in and is like hey you guys are back! And makes sure we are in his section. It's like our Cheers!! LOL Gary is great too. Both of them have been there at least 5 or so years!!!

We ate at the Trails end restaurant for the 1st time last week...
It was fantastic!!! The food was great and it was much less than most buffets! I am very picky and The food was not dried out when we ate there.. We were the 1st ones seated as soon as they opened .

I'm going to move this over to our restaurant board so you can get more answers :)

I love Trail's End. I eat there every trip with my parents. My parents have a motorhome and stay at Ft. Wilderness. The food is good and the price is nice for a buffet. All the CMs have been so nice each time we have eaten there. We will be eating lunch here for the 1st time in Sept. I can only comment on breakfast and dinner being good, but have no doubt that lunch will be good as well.

We're planning to have breakfast there in early Oct. Do we need to make reservations or just walk up?

We rarely make reservations there. There are times when we have gotten there and there is a long wait. You could just call the morning you are going and make the ADR to cover yourself for breakfast rush, but really the only times we have seen a long wait is dinner time. Enjoy!! Their breakfast is really yummy!

This may help w/the ressie question.

I just had an open night open up for us on our upcoming trip (during free dining, mind you).

They said Trails End was WIDE OPEN. So, I guess not many people make ressies there. Hope that helps!
