Anyone eaten at Mangino's (Shades of Green) lately?

Thinking about this as a dining option for our family trip in December. Dad is retired AF so we are eligible to go. I've seen the menu on Allears and read the few threads about it here, but would love to hear from anyone who has been there in the last six months or so.

My family at there 3 times during our trip in June. We loved it. The kids meals are the best bargain at Disney. A huge plate of pasta with meatballs or chicken, beverage and ice cream sundae for $4.50. Our personal favorites were the Linguine and Clams and Veal Marsala. The portions are very large and the prices are reasonable when compared to similar Disney restaurants. They required reservations when we were there, but we could usually call at the last minute and get in within an hour or less.

Thanks! Were you happy with the service as well? We will be a group of five adults plus DD-13, who will eat pretty much anything. We all  Italian food.

We lived in New Orleans for six years, and are restaurant-picky. I am happy to pay reasonable prices for good food, and top prices for REALLY good food, but I hate to spend top $$$ for a restaurant meal and still be disappointed. So many of the Disney high-end restaurants just seem, well, overpriced. IMO

This is going to be my Dad's treat, and I don't want him to feel like he's getting gouged which is why I thought Mangino's might be a good choice. ;)

Just curious, does anyone know why Mangino's is not included in the Dis restaurant list? :confused3

We had terrific service. I even mentioned our various servers when I filled out a SOG survey. I don't know if they are still working there, but you could ask for Dawn, Diedra or Travis when you go. Travis was probably one of the best waiters we've ever had anywhere. He was always on hand with drink refills and attentive without being suffocating.

I know what you mean about gouging. Everyone knows Disney dining is more expensive than the real world, but at times we still felt some places were a very poor value, bordering on insulting.

Hope your Dad enjoys his treat!

Oh good, glad to hear your service was good as well. :thumbsup2 This is looking like a good choice for us. :yay: I'll be sure and post a review if we go there, since there doesn't seem to be much written about it.

Did you get one of the souvenir plates? Those look like a fun keepsake.

Because it is not really a Disney Resort per se, it is leased to the military and has restrictions on who can use their facilities.

We have stayed at SOG lots of times and
IMHO Mangino's is the best Italian restaurant
on site! Its our first and last dinner of our trips.
Enjoy!:goodvibes

Thanks, Fappleton!

LarryJ, I understand how S of G is set up, but the Swan and Dolphin are not owned by Disney either yet their restaurants are included on the Disboard list. I was just curious because there seem to be a fair number of folks on the board who are eligible to stay and/or dine at S of G.

No we didn't. We saw one person order the meal. It's a ton of food. My concern was transporting the plate safely back home on the airplane.

I don't know for sure, but I think the reason Dis doesn't have the SOG restaurant menus is because no one from Dis has access to the resort and restaurants to verify the info. I remember Tour Guide Mike mentioning something along those lines when someone inquired why he didn't have info on his site. Allears has someone who is eligible to visit SOG, so they are able to post the menus.

I think I want one of those plates! Someone will have to share a meal with me.

It looks like Dad is definitely leaning toward Mangino's for our dinner 12/23. I will try to provide a complete report if we go, for the benefit of future Diser-visitors. :)
