Anyone Drove into Atlanta on Good Friday Before?

We are planning on driving down to Orlando for Spring Break (along with 1/2 of America) and was trying to decide where to stop. The main factor is traffic. If we drive past Atlanta, we would have a really long day driving. But, if we stop in Marietta (which is where we planned), we may have a lot of traffic heading into Atlanta the following morning as it is a weekday. But, with it being Good Friday, will there be more commuters that stay home? I live in the Chicago area and Good Friday is just that for the commuters, GOOD! There are either a lot of people that have the day off or lots of people that take it off because they have kids off school.

ANY help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

We drove I75 into Atlanta two years ago on Good Friday -- never again! It was 1:30 in the afternoon and we lost about two hours because of traffic and many accidents. The weather was sunny and beautiful -- go figure! I know a lot of Michigan people going down to Florida and driving thru Atlanta on Good Friday. Good luck! We have driven many different ways on Good Friday -- I95 and I75 are all bad news on Good Friday.

Thanks for the heads up but I sure wish you had better news for me. :crazy2: Do you have an alternate route to avoid all of the ick?

We lived about an hour outside of Atlanta for about 2 years and drove through Atlanta to get there last year on Good Friday. I will tell you that traffic around and throughout Atlanta is always crazy on Fridays (even when compared to Chicago) and on Good Friday last year it was even worse. Sorry I don't have better news that that. Luckily the interstate is well marked for exiting so it gives you plenty of time to get over for your exit. If you are headed to WDW on Good Friday I would suggest getting through Atlanta the night before Good Friday. If you are headed back home then it shouldn't be as bad coming North because traffic will be headed out of the city. So the only place you will run into traffic is as you get North of Atlanta. If I can give you any suggetions on getting around Altanta send me a PM.
