Anyone driving worried about gas prices

I ran the higher price for gas thing past DH last night--he gave me a really quizzed look--after 14 years of marriage I knew I must have said something really stupid, that's the only time I get that look! lol He showed me that gas would have to be arouhnd $10.00 per gallon for driving to be more expensive than flying and rental car. That was reassuring. Just break it down, I too was thinking the figure he gave me was one way, not round trip! In the scheme of things the gas price thing is disgusting, but it won't be ruining our trip!

Down here in Miami the cheapest I could find today was $1.89. It is always more in kissimmee/orlando and turnpike. I actually had not budgeted it until I read this post. Just slipped my mind that gee I will need fuel to get there even if it is only a few hours away.:o

GAS HERE IN NC IS AROUND $1.89 WHICH ONE PLACED RAISED IT FROM $1.77 TO $1.82 OVER NIGHT.......
LOOKS LIKE A BIG DENT IN THE BUDGET IF WE DON'T GET SOME RELEIF FROM THIS SOON !!!!!!!

If you are coming through NC and SC try to fill up in South Carolina, the prices are usually a little less than NC.

By the way, paid my highest yet yesterday, $1.88 off I-26 south of Asheville in the mountains.

The high cost of gas got me to thinking of the least I ever paid. Think it was late 60s, maybe 1970, just west of Charlotte NC paid 0.19 per gallon. Buddies and I used change in pockets to fill up.

Thanks for the heads up - I guess there are advantages to living in the state where gas is the most expensive...

Can't wait for our trip. We will be there for 8 nights, and will NOT be on my low carb diet while I am there (that would just be wrong!!!). You guys have the best food...

When are you coming to New Orleans?

Since the post of $1.70 - 1.80, prices here in the New Orleans area have jumped to 1.80 (reg) to 2.0x (prem).

This week (5/12 - 5/16) they are predicting rain from 60-70% (5/12) to 30- 40% for the weekend (5/15-5/16)

Any way enjoy your stay.

This probably goes without saying but fill up in GA before you cross the GA/FL line. Much cheaper. Right now GA gas is around $1.89/gallon.

As of yesterday (when we took a big jump up again) gas here is running an average of $2.09/gallon. Glad to here it's still under $2 in a lot of areas. We are leaving tomorrow for VA Beach and were are driving. I've been spoiled. We live about 5 miles off an Indian Reservation where there are no taxes on the gas. So, we've been only paying $1.60 something for it all along. I only looked today to see what we might be paying for our trip.

Great, that means if gas prices hover around the $2.10 / gal mark during our upcoming trip, we'll actually be saving 30¢ per gal on vacation. Try moving to CA where the average price is now about $2.30 - 2.50 per gallon, at least around the LA area.

I was so mad yesterday, and no this has nothing to do with driving to Disney, but it is about gas prices! ;)

I drove from the Detroit suburbs, where gas was 1.97 per gallon unleaded regular, to Toledo, Ohio. When I arrived at the FIRST exit across the Michigan/Ohio border regular unleaded gas was 1.66 per gallon!!!

.31¢ PER GALLON in a short drive!

On my way back home I saw a station not even 4 miles across the border back in Michigan for 1.96 a gallon.

You shouldn't be too upset. I live in Dayton (OH), and they play games with gas prices almost every week. For instance, when I went to work on Mon., gas was $1.69/gal. At lunch I realized all the stations jumped the price to $1.99 gal. The price will slowly decline to $1.69 again and the cycle starts all over. It has become a cat and mouse game as to which day in the week the price will spike. It used to be every thursday, which kind of makes sense with the weekend spike in demand. But now there is no ryme or reason for it.

Anyway, you just hit Ohio during the down part of the cycle. It could, just as easily been a few pennies more than at your home.
