Has anyone done the Spacecoast marathon before? I have multiple questions. I was only able to secure a full marathon entry through a charity but will only be able to complete a half, would I still get a medal? Is the first 13 miles the same for both runs? I understand the half starts at 6am and the full starts at 630 so I assume the course would be the same hopefully. Next thing is would you do this on the morning you board a Disney cruise ( we don't check in til 10:30 I should be done by 930 which would give me an hour to shower and get to the port by shuttle ( staying at CI&S) I like to run and have been doing so for less than a year. I just completed the TOT 10 mile 2 weeks ago and my next goal was for PHM GSC in Feb but this race came up and I would like to do it. I really need opinions good or bad, I need to make a good decision, Thank you

The half marathon is the same as the second half of the full marathon. I'm not sure what they would do for a runner who completes the first half of the marathon, and I assume they won't allow switching since both are full. The 13.1 point of the full is almost exactly where the start line was (though the finish line is a couple of blocks away in the park). I would think the turnaround time to get back to your hotel, shower, then to the ship, might be really tight, but I've never really tried something like that so others would probably be more help on that front than I would.

Thank you, that makes sense that the last half is the first half marathon point. Didn't even think about the finish line needs to end in the same place for both. They will not allow a switch for the half which is what I thought I was sighning up for. I may try and find someone who wants to run the full to switch with. If I can just run my 13.1 and still get a medal I'm golden.

Unless you are able to switch with someone, doubt you will receive a medal. You would not be running over the mats in the second half so no verification
on the computer and your bib indicates a full not a half.

I think I'm with John VN- If you only do half the race you wouldn't technically finish so no metal- Even if you just try to 'run the half course' that would red flag as I'm a slower halfer and even finishing in sub 3 (250-3) Only a dozen or so elite's ever have passed me for the full..

Also that's cutting thing really tight time wise with a lot of 'ifs' like if the shuttle doesn't leave promptly if there is no traffic etc..

Thanks for the info, still trying to find a half bib to buy or swap my full for. I have entered every contest I can find with no:sad: luck, if you hear of any let me know:thumbsup2

Runs are going great but still no luck with a half bib, I am still only going to complete the half. Anyone Bueller, Bueller :rotfl2:

Contact the race and let them know you only plan to run the half and see what their policy is.

I was registered for the Columbus full marathon but could only run the half. They said their timing system would be "smart" enough to know I only ran the half. So, I was properly timed for the half and showed up in the list of half finishers.

I did take a full mari medal. They said after the race if there were extra half medals to email them and they would send me a half medal. But the full was designed in such a way I could write In "half" so I didn't ask for a half medal.

I have not done the Space Coast but signed up for a major full marathon here in Atlanta. I thought I would train and complete the full. Low and behold I found out I was pregnant a few weeks before the marathon. Rather than let my number go to waste. I only did the half. Getting a medal was not a problem, I walked through the half medal line and was given a medal. When I looked my race results up, it showed me completing only the half, eventhough
I purchased a full registration. I was only concerned about receiving my medal and my t-shirt anyway. I would think a race like space coast with a full and a half component would not be a problem going from full to half.

I've done the Georgia Marathon (I don't know if that's the one you did), and while the GA Marathon and half marathon start together and the half course splits off after several miles, the Space Coast half and full start at different times and the half is run in a different direction than the first half of the full. Since both races are at capacity, OP's best bet would still be to find someone with a half bib and trade. If she starts with the full runners and stops at half, she would have run *a* half marathon, but not *the* half marathon course at Space Coast. It's possible she could get a half medal on site (it's one of those things that never hurts to ask) but I presume the timing system wouldn't recognize it as a half, probably as a DNF full.

While out for a little pavement pounding this AM I was thinking about this thread. DGS and I will be finishing the SC Half before DD and DW, so I was thinking about heading back out for another half loop. I would then have my marathon from IMFL a week and a half ago, a full in December, the Dopey in early January and the Celebration Marathon a few weeks later.
