I'm so excited! I just found out my brother (he is a CM) signed me up for the Keys to the Kingdom tour!:bounce: This is something I've always thought sounded fun, but I knew DH wouldn't be interested so I've never read that much about it. I know you see some backstage areas and the utilidor (I think?), but I really don't know a whole lot more. Can anyone give me the scoop? Also, I will be going alone on this, am I going to feel like the odd man out?

My DH and I did this tour in January and we both loved it! There was about 10 of us in the tour but I don't think you will feel uncomfortable being by yourself. Everyone in our tour was friendly and the tour guide was super nice. The tour included lunch at the Columbia Harbor House (I think??), we got to ride Jungle Cruise and haunted Mansion with no wait and then we got to see the equipment for the Share A Dream parade and got to go to the utilidors. We would do the tour again. I hope you have a great time. The tour is great!! Let me know if you have any questions. Dawn

my mom and I did the tour in october for the 1st time and we loved it!! did the same rides Dawn did and it was absolutley fascinating, lot's of good info....lunch is at the Columbia Harbor House and the CMs set up the meals with groups sitting together at small tables, so you'll have someone to talk to at lunch, I don't think you'll feel like the odd man out at all....if you do, try to ride with the guide! that way no other parties are seperated :hyper:

you'll have a great time, I highly recommend this tour, it was one of the most interesting things we did on our last trip!

Thank you! This tour sounds so fun!! I tend to be a little shy, but I'll suck it up for a chance to do this! Besides, I can't imagine a place where people would be more friendly then WDW, right?:earsgirl:

We did it one December and just loved it.. the CM makes it so interesting... you learn about Main Street and lots about Walt and his ideas.. We found it fascinating, never mind heading into the utilidors.. that was terrific... we also skipped into Haunted Mansion through a back door, one that the CM's use, and cut the line.. We loved that, everyone had big smiles on their faces..

I know you will enjoy this tour.. :D

And don't worry aout that. I have done a lot of tours so far, only one with a person I knew before the tour started. Trust me, within about 15 minutes, you guys will be like old buddies, because, remember, everyone on the tour REALLY likes Disney stuff, LOL. You'll have a great time, enjoy.

We absolutley loved it!!! We did TTA and HM and 2 yrs ago they didnt give us lunch, but we had a 30 min break. I got to walk upstairs to the 2nd story of a little building in Adventureland and the guide told me to put my hand next to a potted plant and it was so small it fit in my palm, and that showed the "forced perspective". So everytime we walk by that area I always look up at the 2nd story knowing I was up there! :) Neat!

We saw the backstage to the Spectro floats, saw that POC and SM are one big building, and then we saw where all the trash is sucked down the huge chute thing and dumped in the back and hubby was amazed by that! (men, you know how they are)!! Saw the utilidors, costume shop, etc..SO COOL!

But one thing my hubby didnt like was you know the Main Street Bakery? And how it smells like cookies and just lures you in? Well, we found out that they have these little smell emitter things in the ceilings and they emit out cookie smell!!! That broke his little heart!!!!!!!! LOL
But the tour was GREAT. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I just took the Keys to the Kingdom tour last Sunday. The group had 20 in it. You will be fine by yourself. I went by myself and was seated with three others for lunch.

When I went back in '01, a solo trip, I did this tour and loved it. I didn't feel left out, or the oddman out. In fact, when the tour was over I felt lonely. I had spent 4 hrs (I think???) with my group and we all got to know each other. So I would recommend it. And just so you know, all the CM's who give this tour have worked in the MK for sometime so they all know the park real well. I also ate the Columbia Harbor House. I had the chicken fingers. Unfortunately when I took the tour they didn't take me on the cruisel...I did get to go to the Haunted Mansion though (one of my favorite rides). Well, have fun and let us all know what you thing when you get back.

I did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on a solo trip, and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for solo travellers, because it's a great way to meet other people. I think the tour is different depending on the tour guide, but don't be afraid to ask questions. I also learned a lot from the other people on the tour.
