Anyone done grocery delivery to GCH?

I'm planning to use Vons delivery, and wondering if I need to arrange to meet them to accept delivery, or if it can just be delivered to guest services?

I already checked with the GCH, and they have a place to store anything that needs to be refrigerated (my original plan was to do my own shopping since I'll actually arrive the day before I check-in at the GCH, and drop my stuff early in the morning for bell services to place in my room when it is ready).

I'm thinking now to just have the delivery dropped off on my check-in day and let Guest services know that it will be arriving.

You mean The Grand Californian, right?
We always get Vons delivery to there - they pack your refrigerated items in separate bags and the Grand will refrigerate them for you. They will NOT pack them into your room, but we usually get delivery for the hour we are planning on arriving, then have our bags held by Bell Services then have it all brought up at once.

Ask anyone on this forum...I am a FAN of Vons delivery! :lovestruc

We get the 12-16oz bottles of water and whatever we have left over we give to the staff. They also have fresh fruit that day if you opt for "substitution". For instance, last trip we ordered strawberries and they gave us raspberries instead.

BTW- don't ever pay for the delivery fee, there is always a way around it. :daisy:

Thanks, yes. I did mean the Grand Californian. Not sure how I got the letters backwards.

I may have just misunderstood when I talked to the phone operator at the hotel. I explained that the flight I wound up with was a day earlier than my reservation, but was coming in late that night, so I am getting a "cheap" hotel and then wanted to check-in early in the morning of my "official" arrival day. Like 8 am early. What I specifically asked was if I could leave my luggage with Bell Services to be delivered to my room whenever it was assigned, as they said that at that time in the morning they could check me in, but not assign me a room. I also asked if there would be a place to store refrigerated or frozen items, since my original plan was to look for a late night grocery on my way to my one-night stay. They said that I could leave my stuff with Bell Services for later delivery to my room, and that they did have a place to store the temperature sensitive items.

I took that to mean that they would deliver all of it, since I would be leaving all of it with BS.

So, just to clarify, Vons will deliver to the GCH, but not to my room.

Bell / Guest Services will accept the delivery, and Bell Services will store any refrigerated items.

Bell Services will bring everything to my room later? (Including refrigerated stuff?)

Thanks.

When you check in at 8am ask them to give you the keys and text you when your room is ready. That way they have assigned you a room and you'll know where it is and have everything when they text you it's available. We like to do this when we fly in early and go to the parks and then get a text the room is ready.

Vons WILL deliver to the GCH but not your room, Bell Services accepts your delivery and stores the items. They refrigerate the cold items - you'll see the bag is separate and marked "Cold"

When you check into your room you call down to BS and they will bring everything up ;-)

Got it!! This was the part I was unsure about. I just assumed that when the room was ready, BS would deliver everything to my room before I got the text. Did not realize that I would need to be there when they delivered it from storage.

Thanks!! That answered just about every question I had about the process.

Agree with all above. Just to add they will not sign for your order if there is alcohol in it. Or so I've heard. :)

Yes, this is exactly what we have done several times as well. They have held all the items and refrigerated the cold items. Call down and they will bring it up. Only way this won't work is if you are ordering alcohol--then you have to be there to receive it from what I've heard. We've never ordered any alcohol. GCH is great about this and we always save $ buy buying bottle water, diet coke (dh's bad habit, not mine!), juice, milk, yogurt, bagels, cream cheese and usually some fruit. We always end up with extra but still save $. Then we donate the leftover drinks to the bell service break room, and they are always thrilled with it. :goodvibes

That's an awesome idea. Whenever I travel to WDW, I always drive and have a cooler, so I usually do my own shopping, and then bring any extra back. Just easier to have a full cooler than an empty one.
