I'm thinking of taking my son canoeing this trip. He's just started canoeing at Cub Scouts and really likes it and I thought this would be something different for him.

I've seen the canoes at the WL (usually sitting with water) but have never seen them used. I believe that POR has kayaks that you can take up the Sassagola River which is fairly calm in comparrision to May Lake. Other resorts might have them too. I would consider a calmer location to paddle as the wakes might make it tough on a beginner. Plus you don't want to get too far and have him poop out making you do the paddling back. Just a thought.

:thumbsup2 Thanks RangerPooh.

I was thinking of a 2-man purely for that reason. I'll have a look around POR for this.

Cheers

There are canals in FW where they rent just the things your looking for. Although I've never done it if you ask this question on the Camping board I'll bet you get a lot of responses.....TAZ

I know U are not allowed to put your own boat in any of the Disney lakes. I am not sure about canoes or if they are considered a boat also. Yes I know it is a boat. LOL
I say this only because I looked into DVC and was told NO Non disney owned boats allowed.

DH and I went on our homeymoon at FW. It was a lot of fun, we could see people camping.

I'm pretty sure Fort Wilderness is the only place you can canoe. They have a special canal for it. We rented a pontoon boat at Wilderness Lodge in December and it was great! We rode around over to the Grand Floridian and back, but that body of water is only for motor boats.
