We are going in Jan of 2008,(On the Disney Magic) and i was thinking it would be kinda cool to do a vow renewal ceremony on the cruise, since 2008 is my 10th anniversary. I was wondering if anyone has done this, and if the cost is decent. I don't want any kind of party, just a simple ceremony on the deck or something.

We are having one May 07. It will be our 20th anniversary. When I booked, the coordinator said the price would be about a 1000. We didn't think that was too bad. It will just be hubby and I, we will have the ceremony on Deck 7, with the captain officiating. We will have cake, champagne (sparkling cider for us) flowers for me and hubby, photography (can't remember how many pics this included) Dinner at Palo, and maybe something else. I am waiting for the contract to arrive, probably sometime in August. She did say though, that they only have 2 per cruise and that they are done after 4:30 on the Nassau day. Hope this helps.

Wow 1,000 for a vow renewal is a great deal! I'd better tell my DF to get ready in five years ;)

Blythep,

When you get the contract can you come back and give us more info? I'm thinking about a VR for us too in Nov '08 which will also be 10 yrs for us. $1000 is VERY reasonable

I will be glad to. I am trying very hard to wait patiently... ::yes:: :bored: :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I am not doing very good at waiting patiently... :sad2:

Another couple of questions for you blythep since 'search' is not working....

I see you are doing a VR on deck. Did I read somewhere that you can also do a VR on one of the islands too? And what is the price difference for that? And are there specific cruises that do the VR (7 day western, vs. eastern, vs. 4 day, vs Land and sea) or are all good.

Thanks, and good luck on the waiting :)

I am definately going to keep checking for more details.. See, when i saw DCL site reguarding the VR's, it is like a package deal, and we are probably sharing a room with my in-laws, and my dd.. So, we will already be booking a deluxe veranda room, So, i was wondering if it was possible to add on a VR without adding a whole room and such.. Since my inlaws are paying for our cruise (aren't they awesome?!) But, i would love to save up to do a simple VR either on deck or on an island, CC would be GREAT!! We don't want any kind of reception.. that is the least of my worries. Just a toast and come cake and we are good. LOL
I may have to give Disney a call reguarding adding this.. to check prices and how far out they will book.

The way I understand it you can add the VR without a room. They will just need a reservation number to attach it to. So if your in-laws have the reservation they can book your VR. I don't know about the island renewal as we wanted to renew on deck. I do know that the only day they do VR on a 3 or 4 day is on the Nassau day. So for us it will be that Monday. We won't be having a reception as such as it will only be the two of us but we will have cake and sparkling cider (not drinkers). You can book during the month one year out. I called DFTW during May and booked for last year. I was told that there are only two weddings or renewals done per cruise, so we have our name down as one of them.

Enjoy the planning

I don't know about the VR on the islands. Our planner only mentioned on deck and in the Cadilac Lounge. We opted for the outside option, unless raining of course. I also didn't check on the different length cruises as we are going back to WDW for 5 days after the cruise.

We did the VR during the 10 night holiday cruise 12/04. We didn't have a choice of days - we were told it is up to the captain. He made the decision the second day on board (I had asked before we sailed because I wanted to get champagne flutes engraved, but no luck). Anyway, we met with concierage (part of the VR service) the first day and she scheduled excursions, spa, etc. (just like as if we had a concierage stateroom - we also got to go to any of the concierage activities throughout the cruise. Had goodies in our room daily, kids got arcade cards. .....) We then met with her another day to pick photo package, make final decisions on cake, flowers, music, etc. We did not have an option on location. I had wanted on the "secret deck 7" was told outside was not possible. (Hopefully, this has changed) Only option was Sessions/Cadillac Lounge - they made it look really nice - pushed tables out of the way and made an aisle with the chairs. Baby Grand piano up front - table with the cake and choc covered strawberries,(concierage knew I love them and it was her surprise!) cheese and crackers and the champagne and sparkling cider. We had some DIS friends on the cruise that we invited and our 2 children. We also invited our 2 servers (I know that sounds weird, but the VR was on night 8 of the cruise and they had gotten so excited for us. They were thrilled to be invited and had on their very nicest server "costume" because it was formal night. Their faces were priceless when the captain told them it would be fine to celebrate with us with a glass of champagne. We thought of them as friends.) After the ceremony, we visited a short time with guests and then the photographer took us around the ship for @ an hour taking pictures. As it was formal night - Mickey and Minnie were all dressed up in the atrium. The photographer took us to the front of the line and we had pictures taken. We ended up purchasing all the proofs (5x7). Can't remember the prices - not nearly as bad as the prices in Shutters and we told him where we wanted to be photographed as well as took his suggestions. It includes a dinner at Palo - our son was under 18 and therefore we didn't want to eat dinner w/out him that night - we just changed the night. DH, DD, and I went for a cocktail there before dinner - DS was glad to just relax for awhile! Sorry I can't remember prices (what can I say; I'm almost 50!) - I do remember it was wonderful - I never felt more like Cinderella, nor was I ever that nervous!I'm in the center and DD (in gold) our DIS friends surround us!

Well, I spoke to our consultant this morning and found out that there isn't a contract for a Vow Renewal on a cruise. She said we will get our planning kit in about 60 days and that the cost is $1000.00. I will know everything that is included in about 60 days I guess...

Waiting patiently... :lmao:

Hi everybody! didn't know if I could be of any help, but hubby and I are doing a VR on the 10/7 7-night Magic cruise, so I have lots of info if you have specific questions. To address a couple of them.....the VR package is a $1000.00 even add-on to your already existing reservation. It is planned through Fairy Tale Weddings and all of the charges go through them. I am in the midst of filling out my planning information (flowers, music, etc.) this week....too many choices! This is a surprise for my hubby at this point....I am trying to figure out a romantic way of telling him about this right now. We chose the outdoor setting on Deck 7 (there are no CC options for VRs....only the inside lounges or the outside on Deck 7). For the 7-night, the VRs have a set date of the 2nd at-sea day.

Anyway, I am happy to answer specifics if I can.....now I am off to try to find some sort of fancy non-costume Disney dresses for my 2 DDs ages 7 and 3, and some sort of dress for me, plus Disney rings (having a hard time with that one, but it is an important one for me!)

Take care!
Jeanette

Wow.. Thank you! So, it is an additional $1,000. That is good to know! I am so glad, i thought that you had to book it as part of a room package.. So, i will have to talk to my inlaws, hopefully when they book the cruise, I can call someday from her house and try to get the VR added , so it can be a surprise for my DH!
Now, is this similar to the intimate VR package thru WDW? Meaning does it include similar things? Also, did they say how many guests you can have for the $1,000? We know we don't need a reception, just a toast would be nice!
Thanks!! Love hearing the details!!

Well, we got our planning kit yesterday (Yeah :cool1: ) so here is the details:

You can add 8 guests although I am not clear if that includes your bridal party or not. It is just the two of us so am not really interested (sorry). You get a bouquet and boutonniere as part of the package. There are 4 different ones to choose from (Solid French Bouquet (roses), Calla Lily Bouquet, Tropical Bouquet or Mixed Hand Tied Bouquet) and of course additional floral if needed for extra $$$. You then receive a 2-tiered cake with white butter cream icing and keepsake topper. Then you choose the flavors from Chocolate, White, Yellow, Marble with Filling Flavors: Chocolate Mousse, White Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Mousse, Bavarian Cream, Butter Cream. You get two bottles of champagne or non-alcoholic (waiting to find out if there is a charge for that) one for the cake cutting/reception and one for your stateroom with chocolate covered strawberries. Then you get your choice of songs. Prelude/Seating, Processional, Recessional, Reception/First Dance. Then last but not least you get dinner in Palo's on the night of the ceremony. The only thing not included is the pictures. The prices she sent me were a little high, so I am trying to find out if we could just get a Shutters package instead. It is just too much to pay for so many pictures when it is just the two of us. Let me know if you have other questions. I will try and answer them.
