I am really torn over where to stay for our next stay. Was thinking poly/CR split stay but then I just read on here that AKL does not accommodate families of five so now am torn if I should try that one before our youngest turns three and we can still fit in one room?!

Am I right that the poly and cr accomdate five after 3 years of age?

we did this! there were five of us not counting my son who was 2 months shy of 3 we got to stay at the CR we loved it, we knew it would be a long time before we could ever stay in a luxury again!!!

ok ready your post wrong LOL yes I kinow the CR does accomodate 5 and if you are like us and had 1 under 3 you could fit them to!!!!

I would do it. I wish I would have tried out more resorts before our youngest turned 3. And yes CR and the Polynesian sleep 5.

All of the deluxe resorts (except WL and AKL) accommodate 5 + 1 under 3 in a standard room, while WL and AKL accommodate 4 + 1 under 3 in a standard room. I know you love the Poly and were having a hard time deciding between that and the CR, but if AKL is a resort you have always wanted to try, I think I would try it now while you can get 1 room. We've stayed at AKL and it is a beautiful resort. Even though the Poly is our favorite overall, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at AKL again.

Thanks. Maybe I worded that wrong. When my youngest is 3 her siblings will be 8 and 7. Would we all fit in deluxe resorts then??

I am trying to decide if I should try out the ones that wont fit us after she turns 3....we stayed onsite for the first time this year at the poly and loved it!!

We were posting at the same time. The rooms at AKL aren't as big as the ones at the monorail resorts, but would certainly be doable :).

Thanks. I didnt realize that AKL wouldnt accomodate five once she turns three so am tempted to try it but the lure of the monorail resorts is still soooo strong! and you know I love the poly!

Once the youngest turns 3, you'll still be able to stay at any of the deluxe resorts EXCEPT AKL and WL. So if you wanted to try either of those, I'd move them up the list. There are villas and deluxe rooms or suites at those resorts that will fit more than a standard room.

P.S. I'm a HUGE fan of CR. It's a magical resort.

AKL really is a nice resort. I know how it is once you find a resort you love, but we really do like trying different resorts and we haven't regretted any of the ones we've stayed at so far ;).

The lure of the monorail is enticing especially with one still in stroller and possibly napping. However, my middle daughter would love AKL. Ah decisions decisions. If only I could convince DH on a split stay :)

I agree.....you can't beat being on the monorail as far as transportation goes to MK and Epcot, especially with little ones. I understand about your DH not wanting to do a split stay. We won't do another split unless we can have at least 4-5 nights at each resort. Maybe look at pics of both the CR and AKL and try to decide that way, as well as make a pro/con list for each and see if that makes the choice any easier.

Okay here goes. Let me know what anyone can add!

CR pros
Monorail resort
Thinking of TPV
I have always wanted to stay there
Waking to MK.
Lots of dining options
Water and other excursions for grandparents to enjoy
Monorail to Epcot

Cons
-expensive
-lack of theming?
- no zero entry pool

AKL
Beautiful resort
Great theming
Great dining options
Zero entry pool for youngest child
Splash pad area for youngest child

Cons
- not on monorail
-far from MK which we will do twice
-rooms are smaller
- bus transportation with stroller

Looks like cr might win! Anyone have anything else to add?

We stayed at AKL last year, we were in a 1 br villa in Jambo House and it accomodated 5 people with no problem. there was the bed in the bedroom, a pull out couch that slept 2, and then a pull out chair that was about the size of a twin bed.

Thanks. I think my middle child would love AKL but the close proximity to MK makes cr look enticing.

my dh loved how big the room at the poly was so that is a definite pro!

I agree. The monorail resorts have the largest rooms of the deluxe resorts and once you stay in one, it's hard to go to a smaller room, IMO.

We didn't think the buses at AKL were bad, but then again, we didn't have little ones and a stroller. I think now would be a great time for you to try AKL before your youngest turns 3, but having convenient transportation to/from MK is a big perk when staying on the monorail, especially if you will be going to MK a lot.

I wish we would have stayed at and tried some other resorts before my youngest turned 3, like AKL, WL, POFQ. But we actually went in the other direction on our last trip before DD turned 3. We decided to finally try a value and were there 2 months before she turned 3, and our checkin date was 2 days before my DS turned 10. So this was going to be our cheapest trip we would EVER take with all 5 of us onsite. We actually loved it at POP. We thought the theming was great and we were hardly ever in the room. We wished we would have stayed there before, and saved some money for the future trips when we could only stay at POR or deluxes that sleep 5 or villas.

Maybe DH and I will have to do an adults only trip to AKL or WL...someday (sigh).

Just FYI that you could also stay at Port Orleans Riverside in Alligator Bayou. They sleep 5. They used to have a trundle bed, but I just read now that they have murphy beds for the 5th.
