Anyone do this at WL?

My father was reading another Disney message board and someone mentioned that they during their trip to the WL around xmas time that they hang xmas lights from their balcony. Has anyone done this? Would Disney tell you that you cannot do this?

I've never heard of this being done. My suggestion: call the resort and ask before planning to do anything like this.

Yes, lots of people decorate thier balconies!! I put Xmas clings on patio doors, and take a small tree with lights and decorations!! It Was so nice to come home at nite with tree on in room. I am planning on decorating in October for Halloween!!

I second the advice to call the resort before doing this. It sounds to me like a fire hazard, with all of the wood within WL's structure. Having nearly lost my boyhood home to a fire caused by an electrical short, I'm particularly sensitive to power outlets and cords not being used in the exact way they're intended to be used. I've stayed there twice, but I don't remember there being outdoor-rated outlets being placed on the balconies to plug things into. Is it really worth the substantial risk to leave that stuff plugged in, especially if you're at the parks most of the day, anyway? I'd definitely call them before transporting a bunch of lights down there.

I have been there for Christmas several times and there are people at many resorts that decorate for the holidays. We had lights around our balcony and a Mickey head shape made of lighted balls, as well as one of the inflatable Tiggers. We only turned these on when we were there, since I am afraid of leaving lights and things on when we are gone. We also had a small artificial tree in our villa. It was really nice to have a warm homey feel after a long day at the parks.
