I saw it mentioned in an earlier post that I cannot find. Has anyone done the Jet Ski tour and if so who did you book it through? Very interested in doing this but would like more info.

Thanks!

Hi this is shirley and I would be more than happy to send you information of all types of water sports in Key West - How do I know cause I was born and raised there - you can email me at snelsonbrown@aol.com and I will tell you how you can get it - no strings attached and no cost except a self address 9" envelope with about $3.50 in stamps - I am going to KW to check on my family next month and hope to bring back a lot more info.
Always
Shirley

We did the jet ski tour on the 8/17 Magic. When you get off the ship there is a booth right on the pier that books them, we didn't get off right away so the only time they had available was at 6pm.

We thought that was a little too late so we wandered down towards Mallory Square and there was a place down there called Key Cat Marine that booked them also. They had a tour leaving in a few minutes and we were able to go out right away.

I took my 9yo DS and DH took our 5yo DD out, it was a total blast! My DS said it was the best day of his life! (I think the dolphin encounter in Cozumel topped it though). The guide took us all around the island and stopped at various places to explain the island. He also gave us a little "playing around" time on the gulf side before we headed back in.

We had never ridden jet skis before but they were very easy to learn and alot of fun. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I just received Shirley's package (thanks Shirley) and this excursion caught my eye.

Suzy - where did your kids sit on the ski - in front of you or did they hold on to you? Did you see any dolphins? OK - big question - was it expensive.

Thanks

My 5yo DD sat in front on DH, there was a little bar to hold on to that was attached/part of the handlebars. My 9yo DS started out in back but part way through he changed to sit in front to have a better view. He also was able to steer a little from there. We didn't see any dolphins or marine life of any kind, the skis go about 40mph so you pretty much only have time to look out for other ski's and boats. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi we did it on the Inaugural cruise on may 11, 2002
we used the booth right at the dock as sooon as u get into port i recommend u go to get the best time they require a $300.00 dolllar deposit on your credit card refunded when u return the ski and it was $95.00 for one person and $10.00
for and extra person ...
this trip was a total blast the ski we had Did 85 MPH
that would be with one person on it of course and with 2 people we reached speed 60 MPH wife was freakin.....
also remember 2 bring a cash tip for the guide at the end u will want to tip the guide and also the sun screen and water bottle for drinking as u will be on the water for 2 hours
there is a compartment to put stuff in on the ski.....
rental by the hour r also aval... i think it was 50.00
but was limited area u had to stay in that is why we took the tour u get to go past the magic right off the bow and
cant wait to do it on the next cruise...
or may be shirley has the info and u can call and pre arrange
the time .......

have fun peter was one of the highlights of the cruise
we also did JEEP tour in cozmel BLAST also.....

Does any one no if this can be booked ahead of time? Any info would be appreciated.Thanks.

I still recommend Shelly at Key Cat in KW all the way - I have found them to be very honorable and responsible - If you will tell them I recommended them on this board - you will get a good discount for doing so - and again nope nothing in it for me or the shop - I just want to make sure everyone has a safe port in Key West and they have here in Cape Canaveral - that is it in a nutshell -
Have a wonderful holiday weekend everybody.
Always
Shirley

Thanks for your replies. I did call a few places to book but unfortuantely you have to be 18 or older to ride and becuase we have 3 kids, this will not be an option for us. I figured my dh could take one daughter and I could take the other and my 14 year old son could ride on his own, but that's a no-go! We still haven't figured out what we are going to do in Key West yet. Looks like we will do some walking/shopping on our own and that's it.

Thanks again!

mpaone,

Well we did use Key Cat and Shelley was great. They do allow 3 people on the jet ski. Depending on how old/tall your kids are 1 kid could sit in front of the driver and 1 kid behind. When we went on our tour there was a dad with 2 kids, I guess about 8-10 yrs that did that. Hope you have a Magical vacation,

Can anyone provide with the phone number for booking a reservation ahead of time.
Thanks.

hey Shirley the place u named is that the place we went to right on the dock or is it different , cause they let children go on with parent on the tour had father and son on our tour child was under 18 so if u cant get some other place that might be the place to go the boy was 8 or 9
sorry i do not remember the name ... maybe shirley can help or some one else who went there or buy it
peter
