Anyone do regular DP wish they did DDDP?

Unfortunately, the deluxe dining plan is not on the weight watchers plan :sad2:

Seriously though, I looked into it for the upcoming trip as an add on to our free dining & with the dining I have planned now, it was not cost effective. My ds is still little so we don't do any signature rest. and he does not want to eat @ the castle.

We will be paying oop for 4 ts meals (around $200) & that is still a lot less than we would have paid for the deluxe plan. Even if we added the backyard bbq it would still be much less.

Happy eating!!

I've been going back and forth on this one. I've run a spreadsheet, and with the ADRs we now have (which include two signature meal dinners), we're about $200 less OOP than with the deluxe. That said, I did not figure out the snacks in there or the extra meals we'll have (we'd probably use them on CS meals at this point), so it ends up being much closer and once all is said and done, we'd probably spend the same on the DDP plus OOP expenses but we would not get the extra snacks we'll use for lots of breakfasts and such. It's just so much stress trying to make these decisions.

I was exactly where you are and ready to upgrade to dxddp, when it hit me. What if I wanted to skip a meal? If I went oop it would be about $50 less if I kept all of my adrs. I wasn't even ahead going into it, but if I skipped a meal or two, or wanted to share an entree because I wasn't that hungry, I was STILL paying for the food. Why give your $$ to Disney? I decided to keep my $$ and spend it as I went along. Then I know I will not be paying for a morsel that I am not ordering and eating. So we are going with the ddp and the rest oop. I feel it is the most flexible and cost saving for us.

I there a site that breaks down the difference between the two and gives the cost per day per person of each plan? thanks!

We have done the standard DDP several times, both free and paid for since '05. I was really on the fence over this one myself. To do the DLX plan would have added almost $650 extra to the cost for SO and I. The reason I was leaning towards it was because I liked the idea of doing signature meals more, being able to not feel guilty over "wasting" the cost of a TS credit on breakfast (a significantly less expensive meal), etc...but then I realized...

Over 9 days on the standard plan I would already be paying tips on (at least) 9 TS meals. To do the DLX plan I would be paying tips on up to 27 TS meals (if I didn't do signature meals...but they themselves would come with a higher tip). My additional $650 has probably now increased by a few hundred more in tips alone. Plus we would be slaves to our ADRs, having little to no unscripted time in the parks or at the resort.

I am a breakfast on vacation kinda person (which is strange because at home I rarely have time for anything more substantial than a yogurt cup ;) ) I enjoy starting my day out over some nice warm breakfast food and going over our plans for the day/reliving somethig interesting that happened yesterday/etc. To that end I have determined to pay OOP for breakfast on all 9 days, some at a TS but most at the resort CS, and then to just use the standard DDP for the lunch and dinner meals.

We are really not "snack" people (in the whole trip I doubt we would have more than 1 or 2 ice creams/popcorn type novelties) I would really rather if they would put the money for the snack back towards the "lost" appetizer on the DDP!
