Anyone disembark from Miami and try to catch 10:00 flight?

We have a MIA 9:30am flight on 03/17/19. I'll dig up this thread when I get back and update how it went. Hopefully you can use that as a yard stick on your timing. Not sure if it will help you for April because you'll prolly book well before April but it can be noted for future use.

Excellent idea.

During Spring Break in a major tourist town? I will grant that most of the traffic will be nearer the beaches, etc... but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Are you talking about what is in the realm of possibility or what is optimistic? Those are totally different concepts, yet you are using them interchangeably.

No, I'm really not. I have been there. I have seen what traffic is like and offered my opinion. Others have done the same.

You said both that 45 minutes is optimistic and that it taking 45 min is not outside the realm of possibility. Those are very different statements.

No, that's not what I said or meant. I was not referring to travel times. I was referring to traffic being present due to spring break.

We had 10:00 AM flight in November getting off the magic in New York, I checked traffic several times on google maps on same day of week, leading up to trip and hoped for 45 min max to JFK. I arranged private town car, we walked off ship 7:25 and were at airport at 8:00 I was lucky there was zero traffic it was Saturday after thanksgiving. We are going on the magic on April 14th, I have a 11:00 flight I was not brave enough to book the 9:25 flight, which i think could be done if ship docked on time .

Very interesting. We are flying during spring break but it is during the week and almost all of April is spring break. Someone had told me it was almost 45 minutes to airport due to traffic but it sounds like you think it can be only 15. There is an 11 flight and 12 I’m thinking I can at least do the 12 but it’s really expensive.
They may have meant the FLL airport - that is farther away from the Port and with Miami traffic could be a nightmare on certain days. But MIA is fairly close.

Nope, I meant MIA. While I never said the name, I made it pretty clear in my replies to that statement.

What??? I was not replying to your post. I was replying to auteur55 posts where OP said that "someone" had told them it was 45 minutes to the airport and I was saying that perhaps that "someone" was referring to FLL.

Once you get 2 pages into a thread on any forum,it tends to splinter a bit, so confusion happens all the time.

Sorry, got my posts mixed up. I did agree with that someone and say that 45 minutes was a possibility but was not that someone. Mea culpa.

Correct. I have a NEXUS which gives me Global Entry, and in Port Everglades that (or mobile passport) allows you to bypass a potential hour or two in line at customs. Plus you usually get TSA precheck. So I’m always looking to take advantage of this where I can.

@AngelDisney - I don’t know if you have NEXUS, but you and your family should apply if you travel a lot - i feel it’s well worth the $50 per adult.

Yes, we have Nexus. It saves us time for sure.

We were just off Magic this morning. Our flight was at 12:05 pm. We left our stateroom at 8:30 am. Packing took more time than expected. We were off the ship at 8:50 am. There was a line leaving the ship. We were by the gate at MIA around 9:30 am. If OP can get off the ship at 7:00 am for express walk off, they should be able to get to the airport by 8:00 am and that should be enough time for 10 am flight provided that the ship would get cleared by 7:00 am. Boarding time for our flight was 11:25 am. We had NEXUS and got TSA Pre-Check which was not much faster than regular line because they didn’t have a separate line for NEXUS.

Updated:
This was a Sunday morning with no traffic though.

Unless there is some unforeseen circumstance you can easily make an MIA flight by 10am. That should give you 2-3 hours to make your flight which is more than enough. Normally you get off the boat by approx 7:30a and it's about a 15 min taxi to MIA. As stated above, there is always the possibility of exceptions but they are not the norm, which is why they will be called exceptions.
^ This is accurate.

I wouldn't book that early out of an overabundance of caution, but it's certainly doable. The airport is very close, and there are plenty of cabs.

Just updating, we got off the Magic and were at MIA sitting at the gate by 8:20am. We were nowhere near first off the boat. We are TSA pre-check.

We did it. We were at the airport by 8am. What day of the week are you disembarking. We disembarked on a Friday and the traffic was going the opposite direction. It’s only about a 15 20 minute drive. It would be extremely rare for a ship not to dock on time. It could happen it’s just not likely. We almost always do express walk off and take flights well before the recommended time. I like getting home before it’s rush hour at home.
