I love WDW in all it's glory but we just got back from a very nice trip to the world and road Soaring twice and found we were very disappointed with the ride. The "introduction" to the ride wasn't really up to Disney standards and then it JUMPS from place to place very abruptly without any transitions.
Maybe they should start it out like a real hang-glider and make it alot smoother. I loved the interactive smells! That part was great.

Please share your thoughts.

my family thought soarin was great. and although you raise some valid points, i am not that critical. i would have liked to get sprayed when the water scenes were shown.

Then why did you go on 2 times? No just joking. I too thought it was a bit abrupt but I loved it all of the same. Fave part the "orange" smell when going through the orange groves

Definately the water spray was missing (even if it was just a fine mist)!!!! ;)

It was new and it was Disney- I love everything there so we had to ride it again to get a feel from a different angle!!! But everytime I smell oranges I think of it.

I have to agree with you. Soarn' is cool . but it isnt' all the hype people make it to be.

I thought the ride was fantastic, however while it is a very realistic experience (and in fact a beautiful experience) the cutting from scene to scene is far too quick. The chopping and changing of scenes only served to remind me that I wasn't in reality flying, just hanging and moving in front of a big screen. Don't get me wrong, the ride is wonderful, but frustratingly imperfect.

This quickly became my favorite ride at WDW. Not a classic (like POC or HM), but definitely unique and innovative. I do agree the transitions were not smooth, but I don't know if they could have show the majestic views of CA without transitioning - lol!! I too was waiting for a misting at the ocean, but rest assurred, I pick my feet up!

We where on it 3 times in a hour one morning in Oct. Love it.

A friend of mine, who edits video for a living, didn't like it either - but I loved it and have been on at least twice every day that I have been in Epcot - you truly feel like you are flying - and isn't that the point??

I wanted to pick up my feet when flying close to the water, and I ducked when the golf ball (with the hidden mickey) almost hit my head....

After hearing these criticisms, I wondered how it could be made better and smoother experience, but without making the ride longer for the transitions, I don't think you could.

If there are any other film editors out there, I'd love to hear how you would 'fix' it.

Michael

I have a question..unfortunatly I am not kidding LOL. My DD(15) wants to know if there are any 'stinky' smells? :rotfl2:

all you smell is ocean, pine, and oranges.

Then maybe she will get on it. She is a little leary of some Disney rides because she was 'tramatized' by It's a Bugs Life in 2000, and she was 9!!!

thanks!

This is one our family's favorite rides- DH, Me, DD15, DS10 and DD7. We rode it 3 times the day we were at Epcot. LOVE IT!!

I thought the concept was brilliant but the actual ride is just ok. DD6 absolutely loved it so we went on it about 8 times.

I think if it had been a 4D ride with qualiy of 3D visual effects on par with say Shrek it would have been a fantastic ride. As it is, its just seems either a 'lazy' or low-cost implementation of a great idea.

Can someone tell me the height requirement for this attraction? :wizard:

Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing the height requirement too! We can't wait to get to Epcot & try this ride!

Height is 40"

One of the best rides ever, they have to jump from place to place or it would be boring, as all those things are not close

Cant wait til Feb when we get to ride it again!!!

I agree, water spray would really make that part more realistic, and maybe some ocean smell? Anyways, I loved that ride so much!!!!! You have a very awesome feeling coming off, nothing like I've ever felt before!!! :thumbsup2
