anyone cruising soon please read

All,
I tried to get a refund or credit for the $50 difference in fare for our Newark to Honolulu fare from Continental but it was a no-go. They said they only will reticket if the difference is more then the $100 fee, and then you only get the difference after the fee. I was hoping to save DDad some money as he paid for airfare for all 8 of us. Oh well, when the price went down, the plane filled up, and we would have ended up all over the plane if we had the guts to wait that long.(about 1 month out)
Still have to purchase our tickets to Orlando for October, but plan on waiting a while on that. I think I heard something about Southwest going to Philadelphia, maybe they will make it worth our while to fly out of there.

SandraLee,

Yes, Delta did issue vouchers, 3 of them at $48.00 each, she even sent me an email receipt of the vouchers. I don't know what the "cheap U or T" fares are. I booked online on 3/16 for $267.90 RT per ticket, when I checked on 3/28, the price was down to $219.90 RT for the same itinerary.

I just checked my etickets, and I was a U class, and now I am a T? Whatever that is, I don't really care, as long as it gets me to Florida. (is this a bad thing?)

The vouchers are good for a year. With my DD just accepted to Florida State, I'm sure we will be using them in no time.

update: I just checked again and now the same flight is $243.90, back up $24.00! Glad I checked when I did!

Here's a question about prices going down: Do you check your exact flights, or just your dates? My exact flights have gone UP more than $150 each for June...

moocow35 . . . Interesting. And, don't you always feel great when you know you got a 'deal' when the airfare starts going up... Yes, on Delta, the 'U' fares are the fully restricted, no changes fare and the 'T' fares are the same fully restricted, no changes, and super sale fares!

You got a deal.

I was looking to book my sister BWI/ATL and have been checking flights. Well, I didn't book one night. Got up in the AM and went to book and it was $65 MORE. I got mad, went on a bunch of errands, came home and the fare was back to where I wanted, so I booked in an instant. 30 minutes later, it was back up. So, the moral is . .. Book when you see the airfare you are happy with and it is worth it to check airfare for a good few weeks before you do book.

well I'm glad I checked this thread!! I'm on hold with Delta/Song right now, my exact tickets are $344.00 cheaper for the 4 of us!!! Not bad! Let's hope I can get the voucher. I can't tell what kind of fare I have.

I plugged in my dates, and found my exact flights, that's how I knew about the decrease in price.

Good luck ClarabelleCow!

followup - I now have a $344.00 voucher to use on Song/Delta!!!!
Guess I will have to add one more trip in somewhere, I just have to book it by February, that's when I purchased my tickets. If anyone remembres, I first was going to purchase when AA had sale prices of 160 RT, but ended up paying almost 400 more because the times were better on Song/Delta and I could fly out of Hartford instead of Laguardia! Now I'm paying almost exactly what I gave up on AA!!!

Airlines other than Southwest typically charge $100 to re-book a non-refundable fare, which is why Continental probably has the policy of not refunding/issuing vouchers for a fare savings of less than $100. If you originally booked a refundable fare, you should be able to get a full refund and then re-book at the lower fare on any airline. Of course 99% of the low fares are all going to be non-refundable. Also, you can play the "fare up, fare down" game all day long - they change almost by the minute. One last thing - anyone booking on Song (the Delta low-cost airline) use caution. I have heard that they are not doing well financially.

AAGGGGHHH!! I missed it!!! I could kick myself for not reading this thread yesterday!!! :( I thought it was just asking for advice or something and I was busy so I skipped over it. Man...I could have gotten a $200 credit from SW!!! :faint:

I JUST CHECKED SOUTHWEST OUT OF NEW ORLEANS FOR ROUNDTRIP TO ORLANDO, WOW---$96.00, YES $96.00 PP. YOU MUST BOOK 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE AND THERE ARE CERTAIN TIMES FOR DEPARTURE AND RETURN, BUT THAT IS AN AWSOME PRICE. ::yes::

Gee, that is too bad about Song Air. I hope they don't go under. I really enjoyed my flights I had in February. That direct TV really made the time go by fast!

ClarabelleCow,

That is good news, congratulations!
