FWIW - the people that are blaming the media. If you were to look back at news articles in December, the news media and drs/cdc etc were trying very hard for people to pay attention to the normal flu - talking about how it was affecting children harder this year and pleading with people to still get vaccinated. They did and still are giving lots of attention to the regular flu, its just the general public typically ignores news about the flu -because its "just the flu".
I don't think the media is trying to make money off of coronovirus just because you have to pay to read certain websites. Those news sites are always behind a paywall, regardless of the story. It's because they are a business and need to make money somehow to pay their bills and salaries of their employees.
