Anyone cheaper than Southwest Airlines?

Hi everyone! I'm planning a trip to WDW July 1-6 and the lowest airfare I have found so far is $234 roundtrip from Birmingham, AL to Orlando on Southwest Airlines. Anybody think I might be able to find something cheaper or is that about as good as it gets? I haven't flown in years, so I don't know. Also, I've never flown Southwest...is it a pretty good airline? Thanks!

considering no baggage fee's with Southwest, that is a really good rate. Especially for that time of year. Depending on the number of people traveling, it may end up cheaper to drive.

A lot will depend on the level of competition flying out of BHM to MCO. If you only have SWA doing non-stops, you're going to see higher prices from them. OTOH, if 2 or 3 other airlines also fly that route, you'll be better prices.

I happen to like SWA because they offer up to 2 checked bags per passenger for free and they have the most lenient change rules in the business. Some people can't stand not having an assigned seat before they board the plane but it doesn't bother me in the least. I would much rather have the ability to choose to sit in front of an adult instead of finding out that my assigned seat is in front of a fussy 2 yo that kicks my seat back the entire trip.

But sometimes the flight times themselves are more important than free checked bags and no change fees. So weigh all of those factors when you choose your airline.

We fly out of birmingham and have found SW to always be the best price. They also are one of the few to offer non stop and they have the best customer service that I have found. The agents at Birmingham are very helpful. Keep watching the prices, they might go down, but being that you are flying during peak vacation season they might not. They will get higher, however about 2 months ahead of time. If you plan on traveling again within a year you can buy the tickets now and if they go down in price you will get a credit toward you next flight ( if you book the wanna get a way tickets and you must call them and tell them you want a credit).

Just compare prices. We normally use SW but one trip it was cheaper to fly Delta even with the baggage fees Delta charges.

Both SW and Delta were nonstop flights from RDU to MCO. In the end I saved $70 by flying Delta on that trip.

OK, I have researched numerous websites and flights, and Southwest is the best rate. Based on that and your posts, I'm going with them. Thanks everyone!
