I was just wondering if anyone here hs any experience with changing doctors while they are pregnant? I'm 27 weeks pregnant and am having a terrible time with my current Ob/Gyn practice. So far, at two appointments I've waited anywhere from 45 minute to 1 hour, 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be seen, and no one at the office has even bothered to apologize for the wait. The receptionist doesn't even mention that the doctors are behind when you check-in. Another time, a few hours prior to my appointment I was told that I could either come in early or I would have to reschedule for another day. And at a fourth appointment, my name wasn't on the list - they just didn't have a record of my appointment. Now, they did see me, but I got the feeling that they thought it was my mistake somehow (Like I randomly show up at doctors office at 7:45 am with a container of urine in my purse!) And, of course, all of the appointments last for about 5 minutes total, so they just seem like a waste of my time.
If that wasn't bad enough, at my last appointment that past Tuesday, the doctor I saw was fairly rude to me. He told me to "stop eating so many donuts" and insulted my job (I'm a lawyer). I don't mind being told to watch my weight, he seemed to go about it in the wrong way. I was also supposed to get a flu shot at the appointment, but since I had to wait so long to be seen, the nurse who did the shots had left for the day and the doctor told me I'd have to make another appointment to get one!
Anyways, I talked to a friend from high school and she recommended an office of midwives that deliver at the same hospital. She has used them for 2 of children, and said that they are delightful to work with. I'm really debating calling them to see if they would take me on as a patient. I haven't had any complications or problems, but for some reason I'm so nervous to call. Apparently, doctors are the one group of people who intimidate me, and I'm usually very good at expressing my opinions and standing up for myself.

I was in my 7th or 8th month when I switched and was much happier.
