There are currently 6 Vero Beach timeshares for sale on the Timeshare Stores website which have been stripped of every point on them until (whatever) use year (they range) until 2006. These contracts are now for sale at bargain basement prices, $63 per point. They haven't sold since I have been watching them for two weeks.

I find it strange that in the normal workings of a contract that each and every last point has been used up on these contracts. When was the last time you made a reservation and had it come out to exactly the # of points you had left? What are the odds?

Anyone care to speculate what is going on? And wether or not the stripped down price of these contracts hurts others trying to sell?

hey I always use all my points or bank them - but it is very possible using all the options - remember that HH in a studio in Dec is 6 points....

someone else says the price is what sells it or not - not the banked points.

I'd say it was possible that points were rented out, with the points actually being transferred to other DVC owners. Assuming they can actually get $63 per point for the stripped contracts, there's no way they would have gotten $83 with 2004 and 2005 points available.

Or, it could be a member with multiple contracts that transferred all available points to a single contract for personal use, and is now trying to dump the remaining years.

Location, location, location. If it's not at WDW, it won't command a premium resale price, so what's the point in trying to sell a loaded contract for a dollar or two more? I'd probably do the same if I were trying to sell a VB contract.

I'd say that VB and HH are only worth $60-65 pp with a fully loaded contract so these are not cheap to me.

Maybe they also own a WDW DVC and combined these VB contract points with the oter to use up these points first?

If you could get a DVC contract at WDW for that price, you'd probably jump at the chance. Not cheap compared to other timeshares, but not bad for Disney.

It's not a good price for VB or HH but is a good price for WDW. It's only a great price (at WDW) if one is planning on buying anyway. My days of jumping to spend money are long since past, no matter how good a deal it is. I consider this type of purchase carefully before I would buy.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I MIGHT stilll be tempted at that price...

The following is a new post taken from the "Any ROFR News?..." thread:

We did not pass ROFR. We bid $67 on a VB Dec UY 400 pt contract with 269 banked points. It went to Disney on 8-18-04 and we just heard from Pat Spell today that we lost the contract.
