anyone canceling for free dinning?

We didn't cancel anything, just added an extra trip!!! Just getting some extra use out of our annual passes. We're staying 7 nights in a value (AS Music) for $650. Already have annual passes (we did have to purchase 1 day passes for everyone, but I'm not including that cost because we're trading them in for our AP renewals which we would have done anyway), and the food is free!! 7 nights/8 days in Disney INCLUDING FOOD for a family of 4 - $650 - just couldn't pass that up.

This will be our first "3 trip" year (June, Sept, & Dec).

I've booked a 5 night DVC stay with a friend (maybe 2) during this free dining time, and I think that if I'm tempted to go again next year at that time, then I would wait and see if anyone wanted to go with me using this promotion. It does seem like a good deal.

What is "free dining"?

Free is my favorite meal!

Promotion going on now for bookings between August 24 and September 20. If you book a full price room and tickets package for a minimum of 3 nights, they'll throw in the basic dining plan for no extra cost.

It just doesn't sound like a good deal for me. There are 4 of us and when we priced the cost of the package staying at a moderate for 5 nights, the cost was $1121.74. That sure would be a lot of food to eat to get my $$$$ worth!

I REALLY tried to get the wife to let us change our plans from using DVC points to getting the free dining, but she really opted out of the idea. I thought since we are already borrowing from next year it'd be a good idea to borrow less and just get on free dining, but she didn't think it was a good idea.
I didnt argue too much since we have 3 trips planned throughout the rest of the year.

BUT, I really did want to get free dining.

sorry, but no way we would.
we would want only similar accomodations, which leaves the deluxes. & rack rate on a deluxe negates any FD savings, IMHO (AP, etc discount would norm be better).
& after last year, we would not eat onsite during FD either (we caught the end of it, & restaurants were literally packed, many guests seemed frustrated/angry at the waits, the inability to eat at LC without an ADR, etc ~ just not our "cup of tea").
