Anyone buy a crossover vehicle lately?

We have a Ford Edge and we REALLY love it!

We actually have two Ford Edges and love them both. Our son took the 2007 to college, so we purchased a 2010. If we ever buy new again, it will probably be an Edge.

We would never purchase a Kia, Toyota or Honda. Too small and too "cheap" feeling. Just our opinion, for what it's worth. People call my Edge a TANK because it looks and feels so solid.

We just had to go through this...our Ford Escape was totalled. We decided on the Toyota Rav 4. I liked the way it rode and we got a good price on a new one.

Loved the Equinox but it was too much $$. I did love my Escape but after our accident I couldn't get another.

I just bought a Toyota Venza a month ago and *love* it. Previously I was driving a Mercedes SUV and I think this Venza is a better vehicle. It's larger than the RAV4, and maybe a little smaller than the CRV. Much smaller than the Highlander. If you find yourself at a Toyota dealer, check out the Venza.

Do any of these crossover vehicles mentioned seat 6 people or more?

We probably will have to buy a new vehicle within the next year or so but there are six of us in my immediate family and often we are carting around friends as well. I currently have a mini-van but would prefer to NOT get another mini-van.

We have a Chevy Traverse and it. Our Traverse seats 7, you can also get them to seat 8.

I'm the poster who is looking at the Rogues and CR-Vs.

I too love the Murano's, however, my understanding is that they need Premium gas. Something to keep in mind if you look at them.

Muranos are beautiful but they have a heck of a blind spot.

For CR-V owners, I am struggling on whether the backseat has enough room. There are some used Pilots that are in my price range, but the gas mileage is not as good.

I have 2 kids that should get tall during the life of my next car. I am tall and am comfortable in the backseat during the short time I checked it out.

What are your thoughts? Can the CR-V backseat comfortably fit 3 kids if one has a friend along? Is it still comfortable especially for long rides for people 5'10" ish?

I'm a big CR-V fan. I drive a Pilot now because I wanted more room, but I love the CR-V. I had the previous body style, not the current one, so I can't really say anything about the new ones. But mine was surprisingly roomy in the back, even for tall people. Three people could fit comfortably in the back for a short drive - I wouldn't want to go on an hour-long trip.

Does that eliminate the Ford Edge, since it's built in Canada? Maybe you'd rather buy a Kia Santa Fe, built by American workers in Georgia?

My step daughter has an Acadia and LOVES it. It will definately fit 6.

I have a Rogue and really, really like it but it does have a blind spot I've had to get used to. I would buy another one though.

Ford is gettting really good reviews on their vehicles now. I would consider a Ford next time too.

DH and I are always thinking about a new car (still getting mileage out of my 2000 Toyota Corolla), and we want a crossover or bigger. We'd actually been looking at Kia, but after this thread, I'm really thinking twice. Maybe we'll take another look at the Honda CR-V. That was one of our original choices, but it's a little more expensive. I guess you get what you pay for, huh?

Of course, I'll probably still keep driving the Corolla until it's completely dead. I love not having car payments!

We just had to get our daughters KIA fixed, the gas tank was leaking, and other "under the hood" things needed changing after it left her on the road!! It only has 70,000 miles on it. The KIA dealer service mechanic had the car checked to see if it had been wrecked.....it wasn't, he looked under the car on and near the tank to see if there was any damage.....there was NONE. He said from his mouth "must be a defect". We have talked to customer service for 5 days, and they will NOT pay for the tank. I can't believe that at 70,000 miles a tank would start to leak. DH asked them if at the next 70,000 miles we would need to replace the tank again, and they said "of course not, this usually does not hapen" so DH said "then why will you not cover THIS tank????"

My husband has a 28 mile commute each way, 5 days a week and drives a 2001 Corolla. We're driving that thing till the wheels fall off! I get the new car next year since I'm the one home driving our son around

I have a Kia Rondo and LOVE IT!!! I bought it used, 2008 model. It is fabulous, and better than the Nissans and Toyotas I have previously owned. My last car was a Nissan Sentra GXE, and seemed to be very cheaply made.
My car is cute, and gets around well, and has pretty good gas mileage. I did lots of research, reading consumer reports about it, and researching price - and even came here for advice about dealing with used car dealers.
I have only had the car a few months. I understand that it is comparable in size to a Mazda 5. We looked at Honda CRVs, and Toyota Rav 4s before deciding. I have the V6 model, with only two rows of seating. Some Rondos come with a third row of seating.

It was what we could afford, and a great deal for the money. It seats 4 people more than comfortably. One of our friends has a Ford Escape, and everyone says my car has more leg room and is much more comfortable. We have taken it on several roadtrips, and it seems to do very well.
The ONLY thing I don't like is the upholstery as it is not soft, and does stain. But the seats themselves are comfortable, and the cargo space is amazing. I love how it handles as well.
The car is perfect for me and my hubby and suits us well.

I know lots of people hate Kias, but I really enjoy my Rondo, and hope that it will last me a decade or more.

OP let us know which vehicle you get. Our Traverse is our first vehicle with Onstar, i'm loving it, we live in the country and some areas our cell phones don't work. It's nice to know we can make phone calls from Onstar if needed. Cheaper insurance rates with it too!

The safety ratings are what made the decision for us...of course, I haven't looked at the safety ratings since it was on the news that safety ratings have been altered with the new "woman test crash dummy".

I think you'll be very happy with a CR-V and it will last you a long time (still driving my 2000)

Hate my Chrysler Pacifica. It is a 2005 with 65K miles on it and things are falling apart and going wrong with it everytime we turn around. Last spring it was in and out of the shop 4 times for the air conditioner. Good thing we went for the extended warranty or we would have been out around 2500!
Aside from it literally falling apart, it is comfortable, but the windows are so small that it creates many blind spots. Hate it.

How is the trunk space on the Traverse? I am looking at that, the Acadia or Enclave but I want storage space since we have a baby coming in the spring.
