I still have 5 months until our trip but I just am feeling a little unsettled about my dining choices, I mean food is the most important part right :teeth: ??? Anyway it will be me, DH, DD6,DD5 and DD9mths(still not sure if she is going or staying with Grandma, but that's another thread) so I tried to pick dinners by location or with some sort of entertainment factor. Last trip we did 3 character buffet dinners and that was about 2 to many for us so tried to switch it up--- Also we are doing the dining plan--

Sat arrival day, CS lunch at parks --Chef Mickeys for dinner--tradition this is DD6s favorite place
Sun right now I have WCC for dinner but now I am thinking of changing to Mama Melrose for lunch and just doing CS in MK
Mon Boma for dinner
Tues Grand Ad in Cooking for girls
lunch CS is world showcase and
Coral Reef for dinner--I think the girls would love the aquariums
Weds Kona Cafe Dinner (we loved this place last time)
Thurs Ohana for character breakfast
Fant brown derby package (this restaurant was our best meal last trip)
Fri---Last dinner, I orginally scheduled Ohana but due to so many bad reviews and we didn't really like it the first time I think I am going to change to WCC --do you think that is a good place for a last night dinner???What about Mama Melrose for lunch?? Any opinions welcome!!

I tried to pick new places but also some favorites, the girls were not interested in princess stuff this time so I am ok with that because I know as soon as the baby is bigger we will back into that again :goodvibes

I can help you with a few...

'Ohana character breakfast- we loved this. The character interaction was great and everyone loved the food.

'Ohana dinner - we also really enjoyed this. DH and I both really enjoyed the food but I was a little disappointed that we were charged full price for the kids even though they only got chicken strips and fries.

Whispering Canyon - We ate here on our last night and it was GREAT! The food was wonderful and it was a really fun way to end our trip!

No matter what you pick I'm sure you will have a great time!

Looks good to me! We're trying the O'hana breakfast for the first time in May. Let us know how it was! I might miss the review though, I think we're going around the same time! :rotfl: I'm racking my brain trying to figure out new places to go too. There's so much to choose from. We'll have to keep going back to keep sampling! ;)
Chef Mickey's is one of our traditions too. Brown Derby...awesome! It's been a while since we ate at the Coral Reef, but I don't think you will be disappointed. We had an excellent meal there. The kids enjoyed it too.
I wish I could help you with Mama M and WCC, but haven't tried them yet. Good Luck and Enjoy!!

I think you have great choices. The only one I would question is Mama Melrose. We have eaten there a couple of times as part of the Fantasmic package, but would not choose it again. Nothing special about the food or atmosphere (to us at least). Chef Mickeys is also a tradition for us! I personally love Ohana, but the kids didn't like it at all. They are not big meat eaters. We also like Kona Cafe for a quieter meal.

WCC can be hit or miss depending on your server. It's hard if the kids see the other tables having loads of fun and your server is just not into it. As for a "fun" server when you check in. It can't hurt.

I would recommend trying at least ONE new place you have tried before. For us, that is going to be Raglan Road on our next trip.

Thanks so much HayGan for the thumbs up on WCC, I think I am definetly going to book that for our last night. My husband and I are a little leary of the "fun" we aren't big participaters but we think our kids will think its hysterical and of course we are at disney so everything is fun! I also am excited about the Lilo and Stich breakfast my kids picked that over the princesses!! I am glad to hear the food is good too. July lady I am also questioning Mama Melrose(we eat a lot of pasta at home so not so exciting to eat out) but I think we want to do MGM that day and the otherplaces weren't so appealing. I also wanted to have that day where we eat TS for lunch and have the evening to be easy CS--any suggestions would be great. Maybe we should do Kona for lunch instead of Mama Melrose and try another restaurant on Weds?? Hmmm that's a thought, this 180 days is giving me way to much time to change my mind:) Thanks for all of your help, Its nice to have reassurance that you made good choices:))))) Any other thoughts???? I should be paying bills but this is so much more fun!!

I think it sounds great except I'd skip MM. I don't care for that place but I know there are a LOT of people who love it.

I would also do 'Ohana (even with changes I think it'll still be good)

Have a great time!! :wizard:

'Ohana character breakfast -- GREAT!! Coral Reef -- our one disappointment. If you are lucky enough to get a seat by the aquarium that might help, otherwise children will be VERY bored and the portions for dinner are laughable. Just our opinion. Just to clarify, I am 5'3" and weigh 123 and 1/2 pounds. I am small and walked away VERY hungry.

I like, except for this one - we just went and had our WORST dining experience we've had at Disney, bad enough that I complained to guest services. I'd recommend looking elsewhere, personally.

We had a VERY large bill and left hungry with children grumpy, went back to our resort and ordered room service.

Somewhat similar - we did it for Candlelight and we all left fairly angry and hungry (horrific service). I understand small portions at nice restaurants, but this was extra-small portions at a casual atmosphere.

My family is one of the ones who loves Mama Melrose. We like the atmosphere and the food. It sits quietly in the back of MGM. We go every time we are at MGM.

Del :sunny:

Love Mama Melrose. Always eat there for our Fantasmic package.

Love WCC! Eat there some time, anytime.

Get to coral Reef early and ask to wait for a tank-side table. Wonderful for silencing the kids during dinner. ;)

I know what you mean about too many buffets. But I do want to reccommend Crystal Palace, at least for breakfast. We were pleasently suprised by the food:seemed a bit different and a bit nicer than the usual menu.

We were at Coral Reef by 5:00 PM and waited 30 minutes for a seat. We requested an aquarium one---- did not get it, we also had an ADR. Do not count on one for dinner. (this was peak season though)

Hmm what to do, I was really excited about Coral Reef my DH and I are huge seafood fans, now I am not so sure?? We have done Fultons our last 2 trips but wanted to try something new and a little more casual since this will be the first trip with DD who will be 9mths, I am just really skeptical about OHana, my kids will probably not like it and we went on our 2004 trip and just did not enjoy it that much, we just prefer menu restaurants. I wonder if I should change my Mama Melrose(I am just wavering on this due to it being Italian food and I just don't get that jazzed about italian restaurants) to Le Cellier or Chefs de France for lunch, couldn't we then easily grab the boat to MGM??? I am sitting here waiting for DH to bring home takeout so being hungry isn't helping my indecision.

--goofyfordisney, we loved Kona Cafe on our last trip, we did breakfast and dinner, My hubby thought the macedamia nut mahi mahi was one of the best things he had eaten.

Thanks for all of your help!!

Just had to add that we did not have a good meal at Coral Reef either (2 weeks ago). Service was so so, portions small, food not so good and I eat just about anything. We had a seat close to the aquarium and my 3 year liked the aquarium for awhile but the service was so slow that he lost interest in the aquarium after awhile.

We were disappointed in the food at Whispering Canyon. We were there early Ocotber and every review came back that way for that time, so hopefully it was a bad round for them. It was fun, our server didn't do anything that great, but still enjoyed for the atmosphere. We said we were happy we did once but not sure we would do it again. Also helped we were on the dining plan, otherwise I would have been more disappointed.

Also did Ohana and wasn't overly impressed. I personally didn't care for anything but the meat and thought it was dry, no atmosphere at that time, it was 5:20 so I think they were just opening.

In MGM we love 50's Prime Time Diner! Atmosphere is FUN always! And also like the Sci Fi Theatre, not a place to have a conversation due to the way you sit in cars but good burgers and shakes! Kids would probably like it too.

Whatever you decide sure you'll have fun!

You cant go wrong with Boma . 5O Prime time cafe is very good if you want to try that. Brown Derby is very good and you got the dinner package. I enjoyed dinner at Ohana.
