Anyone booking December airfare yet?

I check Travelocity every day. I'd love to fly Delta because they are non-stop between Salt Lake City and Orlando but I'd take just about anything if we didn't have to pay a fortune. The flights are over $400 per person (and we need four). A couple of times they have dropped to the high $300's but I am hoping for maybe lower $300's. But we're going over Christmas so I don't know if I'm out of luck. I plan on holding out till SW releases their December fares if nothing comes down. At least if SW is high too I have the option of making changes without huge penalities.

It makes me sick to see that we could fly there during the summer for $203 per person!

I just read an article on the New York Times about a website that purports to predict airfares up to 90 days out: Farecast

I haven't used it, but thought someone might be interested in it. If anyone uses it, please post about your experience!

I get alerts and newsletters from farecompare.com and one of their recent newsletters gave a very obvious example of other airlines adjusting prices directly in line with SW's releases: SW was booking fares through August 24 and the other airlines kept their rates down until August 25th. The prices took a big jump on the 25th at the other carriers.

So I'm holding out hope...but I can't help but bite my nails with the price of gas and fuel continuing to climb.

Already book ours from LIT to MCO on Delta. $280.00 rt/p. There are 9 of us flying, we're all going a Christmas this year, so a very good cost was important! I started looking at other airlines and they all were showing $5-600 rt/p from DFW. Ridicules!! I grabbed the Delta flight when I saw it. If the other airlines come down to Delta's price, that's OK or even bet it some, but the bottom line is, I have my tickets!
