Hi, just wondered if anyone has direct booked disney using discount codes. Was it easy to do and significantly cheaper than using a travel agent. If anyone has and wouldnt mind sharing a price so I can get an idea I would be grateful. PM me if you dont want to post the price on here. Thanks.

It's very east to do.

we booked one night at the Contemporary last August firstly using a AAA discount. We got about 15% off the rack rate and as it was only one night we paid in full at the time of booking.

When a general code was released for our dates I called Disney CRO back and got the new code applied. it made about $32 difference to the room rate and this amount was shown as a credit against our room when we checked in.

It was so easy that I have booked 5 nights back at the Contemporary for next year and again used the AAA discount. Once the code for August is released I will call back and (hopefully) get it applied.

The rack rate was $244 per night and the AAA discount made it $207.40. I am hoping that it might get down to as low as $150 with an AP discount. (These prices are plus tax)

Hope that helps :)

I always use codes when I book. It helps if you are flexible with your dates as there are only a certain number of rooms allocated to each code. Sometimes if you just change your arrival date by one day it opens up rooms. It definately saves money. I booked a room in Dec. at Pop Century for $49 (AP discount) and my sister waited until two months later to book and there were no more rooms available with that code. She is paying about $30 more per night!

Yes, it's easy to do and it can save you a lot of money.

Even easier (IMHO) is getting a quote from Dreams Unlimited (site sponsors) and they will do all the code checking for you. Their original quote may be at rack rate and not save you anything, but if and when a code is announced for your dates they will automatically apply it to your booking. It saves you the hassle of keeping track of codes and the cost of trans-Atlantic phone calls.

As has already been mentioned, there aren't always codes available for all dates and accommodations, so it might not be possible to make any savings whether you use a TA or not, depending on when you plan to travel.

I went to WDW for a week a few years ago and the amount I saved with an AP discount on my room more than paid for my Annual Pass (which I needed to have to get the code, but also used for another trip ;) ).

i just phone disney direct and ask what the discounts are if any
all ways find them very helpful and always get great discounts we got AP we stayed in Port orlean for $86 instead of $144 and allstar sports for $69 instead of $99 the AP has paid for it self plus you get a lot of discounts if you can remeber to ask for them
