Anyone been upgraded from POR to OKW/SSR?

Last year they offered upgrades to studios, 1beds and even 2beds to American customers who were booked to stay at value resorts!
Now that wasn't fair IMHO.
Would be nice if they upgraded up us to a 1bedroom

but not holding my breath. I'm happy with what I booked

When you going? just read its possibly for travel between 3rd September and 2nd October.
Their very quiet time, possibly not affecting us booked for August.

If no-one is being offered in August I won't be emailing but I might be tempted if August travellers are being offered the option.
I doubt it will make the slightest difference to them if we do email but you have every right to if you are not happy about it.

As far as I can see there are no 2 bed villas at saratoga or old key for when we go, so it was be very busy in august

Ditto:thumbsup2 Put a thread on here last week about paying the extra to upgrade to a 1 bedroom but decided not to.I dont thik its fair for people that have paid the extra to have someone who hasnt get the same accomodation. I know its great to get a free upgrade but annoying to those that have paid.Sorry if I offend anyone.Never had one and I am happy with what I book like most people on here. I heard one guest have a real moan at the CM for not upgrading them because it was therir childs 4th birthday!!!!!A real cheek I think. Its a disney wish for us all and great if it happens but shouldnt be expected
What is the email for disney uk?????

I remember reading on the US forums last year that alot of guests were given free upgrades to SSR or OKW from POFQ
Also when talking to some guests at SSR when there last year they told us they had been upgraded in advance

Hmm, does seem a little off that people in the OKW/SSR Studios aren't gettign bumped to the 1 beds.

It may be that lots of people will get bumped on arrival if they need studios for the Mod people.

For the record I wouldn't move from POFQ to OKW/SSR unless it was to a 1 bed, but I'd have booked POFQ for the themeing so the bubbly tub would be the only thing to seal the deal!

I agree with Torsie. My only negative of being offered an upgrade is possbily feeling that I'm silly not to take it. But I really want POFQ and SSR doesn't really appeal to me at this stage so I am staying put. :goodvibes

I do think those who originally booked with these resorts are more likely to have been wanting the extra space to begin with. Not everyone got a special deal on their rooms. THose at the mods knew the size of the rooms when booking and should rightfully be offered a studio after the originally booked guests are offered a 1 bed.

This is on the back of the letter.

There would be no incentive to move then if they only offered a studio for a studio.

Thanks Lesley, I just saw your post elsewhere and was considering copy & paste, you saved me a job.:thumbsup2

The moderate resorts do not have studio rooms. A studio room at SSR and OKW includes a kitchenette with a big fridge, microwave and toaster.

I realise this (i am a dvc owner), but it is still only 1 room with 2 beds, it would be no incentive to me to move from POFQ to a studio.

Disney did this a couple of years ago to people booked into values - offered them upgrades to OKW/SSR. The reason for doing so then was to free up more value accommodation so more people would book the values of rfree dining (this was when you got the normal DDP with value resort bookings still). I would imagine that it is the same now - Disney are trying to free up more of the moderate accommodation for free dining (for the US market, not the UK) - in order to get more bookings. They won't offer to those staying at SSR/OKW already since that won't free up the moderate accommodation that they want to sell to those who can't afford to pay more.

Wayne, please don't waste your pity on us poor DVC owners who aren't getting free dining - I do perfectly well out of my pre-paid accommodation thank you ;)

My point was that I think the kitchenette in the studio rooms would be a good incentive for moderate resort guests to move.

I must admit it's not for us, had it just been an upgrade to a studio there wouldn't even been a discussion it would have been a no. As far as I can see the only real difference in the studio for us anyway would be the microwave and that for us isn't a loss. Okay we wouldn't have the balcony but POFQ has some really pretty areas to sit so that isn't an issue.

Admittedly, we didn't choose SSR because of the kitchenette! We could live without it but it's just a nice extra. For example, if we feel like having Pop Tarts for breakfast, we can. The big fridge is a plus for me too, as we struggled with the size of our CSR fridge last year.

Just saw someone on the Tour Guide mike forums get an upgrade. Sigh. I want an upgrade!!!!!:rotfl: Preferably the Contemporary . . .!!!!!!!! I'm not moaning about the price I got SSR for, but a little pixie dust would be a beautiful thing!!!!

For long term DVC members that have seen the good years they/you probably do not get as concerned as the ones bought in the last few years, there is a lot of unhappy owners with the free dining and discount deals.
Very difficult for Disney to please everyone though, I would never buy into DVC or rarely stay onsite if it wasn't for free DDP/42% discount offer. If they want to attract offsite travellers like me they have to do the deals but that upsets DVC members.
I can't understand them building more resorts. If I was running the operation I would do it like Disneyland CA or Universal Florida, less hotels all at a premium, to me it looks like they are trying to please too many people.

Thats one upgrade I would turn down:lmao: None of us like the Contemporary, now if they offered me, Poly, AKL or Wilderness Lodge I might be tempted to accept:thumbsup2
