Just decided to change from POR to Wilderness Lodge March 26-April 2 and got AP rate but had to book standard room because of my " budget" , which by the way keeps increasing everyday. Has anyone been upgraded at check in. Or how are the std rooms? Thanks.

We were upgraded from wood's to courtyard without asking in Dec. My daughter was very ill when we arrived, so they got us in a room w/ bunk beds right away, and the only one clean was a courtyard view.

I had a standard view room in January. It was our first time staying there. I didn't make any special requests; I thought I would wait to see where our room was and go from there. When we checked in the CM told me we had been upgraded and that the view was a good one. I don't know where our room was going to be, but we found our we still had a SV room:( . I ended up really liking our room and location. It was a 6th floor room off the lobby. We had a view of the MK fireworks. I wouldn't want the other section of standard rooms. There was a big parking lot for delivery trucks down below. I guess the view would be ok if you never looked down. That must be where our original room was located.

I sent a fax a few days before our arrival asking for a complimentary upgrade to a 'better view' if one was available at the time of check in.

We reserved standard view and got our upgrade to a woods view, which looked across to the WL Villas, and had a nice woods view as well!

In August 2002 we had booked two standard view rooms. Upon arrival the CM at check in said you have been upgraded to a water view room complimentary. It was wonderful. I had faxed down earlier but only asked for requests within the standard view areas. The WL is great, you will have a wonderful time regardless of your view.

We booked a standard view room and were fine with that, and didn't even expect to be upgraded. To our surprise we were given a courtesy upgrade to a pool view room without asking! It was a nice surprise.

We were there in February and booked a SV room. I also requested bunk beds. When we checked in we asked if there were any upgrades available and were told that we had already been upgraded. We got a woodsview room with a very nice view toward the villas.

The WL is one resort where I hear of upgrades often, more often it seems than most other resorts....
I wouldnt keep my hopes up for an upgrade though, because if you dont get one, you are setting yourself up for disappointment, and that is no way to start a vacation!

when you check in, ask what view you hav when they give you your room number, and if it a standard view, ask nicely if there are any nice woods or courtyard views available... :)
act innocent :)

In 2001 my boyfriend and I had booked a courtyard view and we were upgraded to concierge. A wonderful surprise but I hate the balconies on the top floor since you can't sit and enjoy the view.

Last fall I again booked a courtyard view and we got another upgrade - this time to the Grand Floridian with a view over the marina :Pinkbounc

We received a free upgrade this summer. We booked a standard view and were pleasantly surprised when they gave us a courtyard view with an amazing view of the falls with bunkbeds!

We were there last summer and had a standard room booked and was upgraded to courtyard view with bunk beds without even asking.
