Anyone been towed from Resort Parking

I realize that they sometime give 3 hour parking slips when you go to a resort for breakfast/dinner.

I need to go to B&YC for Breakfast, Dinner and Illuminations cruise in one day. Wondering if I'll be allowed to stay all day in parking lot. If not I'll have to drive to B&YC, drive to Epcot, Drive back to B & YC and hopefully be able to stay long enough for dinner and cruise without getting towed. Has anyone done this? Sort of afraid to get towed? Any thoughts?

I see from your countdown you're staying at CSR why not take Disney Transportation then you don't have to worry about it.

I'm almost positive that if you're staying at ANY Disney resort, you can park at ANY other Disney resort for free for as long as you like. Just make sure you have the little slip in your window that they give you when you check into Coronado Springs. Isn't that right?? Please, if I'm wrong here, somebody correct me.:teeth:

No, on-site guests are subject to the 3 hour parking permit when visiting any resort other than their own.

If you are lucky, the 3 hour restriction might not be in effect on the day you visit Beach/Yacht.

If the dinner and cruise is a package run by Beach/Yacht, originating and terminating there, then there will be more liberal parking arrangements, although not necessarily long enough for you to park there all aftenoon as well.

Parking is less restricted at Boardwalk, since that is a location with entertainment where outsiders often stay more than 3 hours.

While it is true that all cars are subject to the 3 hour limit. I spoke with a CM who assured me that if you have a valid parking ID from ANY resort you will never be towed. We parked at the Poly on NYE in the morning and said we were going to breakfast (which we did)but I just left the car there all day until 2AM the following day without problem.

As the CM told me, they would rather error on the side of the guest than tow a paying guest who forgot to put their pass in the window.

CAP56, I wouldn't believe the words of one cast member. I would hate to come back and find my car wasn't there.

They write down your license plate number as you drive through. I've seen this many times when we were behind someone else driving into the resort.

I did this very thing in December. On my way into breakfast at Poly, I asked about this at the check in desk and they told me not to worry, they don't tow as long as I have my pink pass. I stayed all day with no problems.

BTW, have you considered valet parking? It's something like 6 bucks plus tip--really not a bad deal for all day parking at a premium resort.

I agree with DocDisney. Park at the BW or valet at the Y & BC. You won't have a problem or be an inconvenience to other resort guests trying to get a parking space at their resort.
Or just take the bus from your resort.

How does valet parking work? Does it get you all day parking?
(Have no experience with this at a Disney Resort)

Well besides the moral part of "that rule does not apply to me, they meant everyone else should only park for three hours" And I realize that I am being picky, but.... if you look around our society today you see a lot of this "rationalization". (In my town I notice that red lights and stop signs don't seem to apply to a lot of cars. I guess if it doesn't say MR. JONES STOP, Mr Jones assumes it is for someone else!)

That said, I have never seen a car being towed out of any of the resort parking lots. Could you imagine the difficulty, not to mention the risk and liability exposure, of trying to extract a locked, parked car from a narrow slip in one of those packed parking lots? What if they scratched or dinged your new Mercedes? Damaged the transmission on your Land Rover? What if a guest were asleep or sick in the back seat of a minivan? There are just too many things that could go wrong.

The above statements don't make a whole lot of sense. If you are illegally parked (and have been given a slip of paper saying you can only park for three hours) then they are within thier rights to tow you and you would be liable not Disney. A good tow truck driver can extract your car from a space MUCH smaller then the average Disney space without damaging anything. (I see them do it out my office window all the time!)

When I am one of the guests at those Deluxe resorts, I had better be able to find a space or I will be at the front desk pointing out the "pink slips" and other resort slips. I don't think I should be forced into paying for Valet simply because all the "free spots" were taken up by others.

I know search is down, but I could swear I saw a report on towing. I for one am not willing to take the risk. If your rental car is damaged during this you are in trouble. Since you broke the parking regulations where you parked, the insurance companies could easily try to claim the damage was your fault (illegal activities are not covered under insurance).

You could call the fromt desk at Y&B, explain your situation, and ask what you can do. It seems to me that your situation is not unique. I'm sure they have encountered it before and have an "official" policy. If you have to pay the fee to valet park all day, it's definately worth the price to know that your car is safe. JMHO:D

I'm sure the official policy is three hours or use the resort transportation from your resort to the YC & BC.

I'm not so sure that's true. Resort transportation is not designed to take you from resort to resort. You can do it but it is not easy or convient. All I'm saying is, it never hurts to ask.

There is a shuttle that runs from the resorts at the far end of Buena Vista Dr to Downtown Disney (at the other end of Buena Vista Dr). It stops at several resorts in between. CSR and the Boardwalk are among those stops. The Beach Club may also be among the stops but I don't recall. Anyway, the Beach Club is only a very pleasant stroll from the Boardwalk. Downside, could be a very long bus ride.

Call the desk at CSR directly and ask.

Just make sure you have lots of FUN!! There's plenty enough to go around!!

PS: Watch out for the Parking Police.

The car might be immobilized (booted as they say in some cities). This way no complicated towing is needed nor damage caused. You might not be fined but you will be delayed and embarrassed.

Disney might not catch all violators but if resort guests have continued difficulty finding parking spaces, enforcement will get toughter.

Painted on a barrel behind the self service multi-slotted pay kiosk in a Boston area parking lot, "This barrel will be chained to illegally parked cars".

Ohhhh, Doc, you do have a way with the dictionary, oops I mean, a way with words. Thanks for the smile :teeth:
