Anyone been to Vegas?

Great info everyone however getting back to my original THREAD, just my husband and I are taking this trip to Vegas and I still would like some opinions on places to stay and eat. Since it is just the two of us we would like to stay on the "strip", possibly Aladdian, Paris or Bellagio. If anyone has stayed at these spots what are the rooms like in comparison? What sections of the hotels would you suggest to stay in?

Also any great places to eat?

Does anyone know how long it would take to get to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon or Red Rock Canyon from the city? We saw a great tour where you rent ATV's and go around Red Rock.
Thanks

58 kms to Hoover Dam
450 kms from Vegas to the Village Loop at the Grand Canyon
Stayed at the Paris. Found it to be the cheapest price wise of the three with the Bellagio VERY expensive, but a nice hotel.
Check their websites as prices can change daily. We're staying at the Paris for $107 per night in August. The rate on the website is now $179 per night. If you call the Paris direct they will give you a AAA (CAA) discount.

Thanks for the info, we are just looking for Vegas to be a stopping place for airfare and just using it as a central point. We are not interested in gambling, just seeing the massive hotels and casinos. We really want to see the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon (seems farther away than I thought though - lots of driving. I will keep thinking about it!

For meals try:
Aladdin buffet - definitely one of the best in Vegas and likely to change when Planet Hollywood starts refurbishing it.
Paris buffet - especially the breakfast buffet. Made-to-order crepes - wonderful!
Emeril's Delmonico restaurant - probably one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.
The Steakhouse at Circus Circus - strange but true, it's one of the best steakhouses on the strip. Great atmosphere, good food, good prices. Only drawback is that you actually have to walk through Circus Circus to get to it.
There's a great Moroccan restaurant called - what else? - Marrakech not too far off the strip. Definitely need a cab or car to get to it though.
For atmosphere you can eat at Quark's Bar & Grill in the Spacequest area of the Hilton. Food is okay, prices are a little steep, but where else can you eat and be insulted by a Klingon at the same time? One of the house drinks is the Warp Core Breach - very good.
