Anyone been to the Parks in mid-May?

I'm off to WDW in mid May (between second and third weeks). I normally go to WDW way off season when it's quietest (November, January, February type time). Last time I was there in May was back in the 80s when I was ... well, I don't think I need to reveal my age - and I can't remember how busy it was because I was too busy running around and eating all the ice cream and cookies I could cram in my mouth. :)

I think I'm missing UK half-term so I'm guessing there won't be a large number of UK-ers out there but does anyone know how busy it can get? I'm going solo so can use the single rider lines and I'm studying up on Fast Pass here so I know how best to maximise but I just want to get a realistic idea of what I'm likely to be facing so I can adjust my expectations accordingly (if that makes sense).

Cheers all

considering that january, february and november (except thanksgiving week) see crowds around 2 and 3 out of 10

forecasts say crowds will be similar until may 17th
then the attendance will pick up to 5 out of 10 the week starting on may 17th
and the following week (24th to 30th) is rated for an attendance of 9 out of 10 (crazy busy)
crowds dropping down at 7 first week of june

but these are just forecasts, even though that will give you a quite clear picture as to what to expect : crowds.

We've been in May before (part of which was half term) and it wasn't busy at all. Line were short and the weather was great. Out of all the times of year we've been May was definitely the best.

We visited in May last year, departed on the 7th. Pretty quiet with relatively short lines apart from the attractions that are always busy, Toy Story Mania, Soarin and Harry potter at Islands of adventure!
Weather was amazing, we had maybe two storms in the evening, nothing that disrupted any plans.
One thing to watch out for in May is the large groups of American school kids on their end of term trips! You don't really want to be stuck behind them in a ride queue!
But would def recommend May, price, crowds and weather are all in your favour!

Agree with PP's. We went 6th-20th May last year and the crowd levels were low. The only time we saw the parks busy was visiting SWW at HS but that was obviously to be expected!
Weather was fabulous too. Enjoy!

I went in May a few years ago. Weather is nice and not too hot. As winniepie81 said, you might start to see a few end of school trips to the parks - there were a few high school coach trips at Universal but they seemed to spread out once in the park.

I think the longest wait we had was for Space Mountain which was about 60 minutes. Most other rides were no more than 30 minutes.

Thank you!

We're there from 8th to 22nd so it looks like we've picked a good time to go. :goodvibes

Myself and 2 friends are there 8th to 22nd also :thumbsup2

Will be my 15th time going in May, for us it's the perfect time to go, great weather, low crowds and normally no major ride re-furbs

We are there from the 19th to the 2nd of June, so expecting it to busy however on the plus side for us, I keep seeing heaps of posts about American's who had planned to go around then having to not go because the schools have been shut for snow and those days are being put on at the end of the term. So maybe we will be a bit lucky and the crowds will be a bit lower.
