How was it? How long does it take to go through it?
We were thinking about taking a small trip up there on Monday (just overnight). Staying at the Hyatt Place w/tickets for 4 adults and 2 children is only around 150 bucks (I didn't think that was to bad) :confused3.
Would love some feedback if you have been. :thumbsup2 Tia

I liked it, the amibance that is. You pay more for that than you do for the food. The food was o.k.. We've only been once, but I would go back again.

The restaurant is decorated in sea theme. My kids loved being there (ages 7 to 6mos at the time) and I liked it too b/c the kids were so happy. They liked looking at each other from opposite ends of the tank. We had to wait not because of it being croweded, there wasn't enough wait staff (I think that's the right term). Any way, they seemed to be struggling at the time, but maybe things have changed since 6 mo ago.

If you choose to go to the Grand Ol Opry, its right next door.

ETA:  My bad

Little Blue, I think the OP is talking about Newport, KY. :)

We live about 30 minutes away from Newport on the Levee, and we've gone to the Aquarium several times. It's definitely a fun experience!

Get there early to catch the Penguin Parade right outside the Aquarium. There's also plenty to do inside and your walk-through will probably take 2-3 hours. Check out their website, so you have a little idea what to expect before you get there (shows, petting sharks, etc.).

There's a food court inside, but there are much better food options outside at the Levee. Kid-friendly places include Johnny Rockets and Deweys Pizza, but there are a few upscale restaurants, too. There's also a Cold Stone Creamery, a movie theater, and shopping!

Have fun!

We've been and had a great visit. The aquarium was really nice. I think we spent a few hours at the aquarium. We ate lunch at Johnny Rockets at the Levee. We were able to take the transit bus to the Levee from our Hotel, which was easy and fun, too.

Hope you have a great trip!

I was thinking to myself I have been to Newport many times and never knew there was an aquarium. Newport RHODE ISLAND that is. LOL

It's a very nice place. We enjoy it alot. Newport on the Levee on a nice day is great fun!

We live in the Cincinnati area, and I've been a couple of times over the past few months.

I would say it would take a few hours to get through, if you go slow and see everything. I don't think it is a whole day experience. Newport on the levee is a neat place, although I do think it is geared a little more towards adults than kids (except for the aquarium).

You aren't too far from the Cincinnati zoo, which is also great for young kids. And there is the museum center, with the Imax, children's museum and natural history museum in it. So depending on how much time and how much money you want to spend, there is plenty to do.

Cincinnati in general is a great weekend away trip, between the stuff downtown and in Newport and the stuff up north of the city (Kings Island, Great Wolf Lodge, Beach waterpark)

Thanks everyone ;)

We are driving up that morning, picking up our tickets from the Hyatt Place hotel (anyone know if this is a nice hotel?) then heading over to the Aquarium. I figure we should get to the Aquarium around 11ish.

I would love to stay a couple of nights and do some more things, but, this is a short, budget trip (since we are going to Disney in Oct.) so one night is it.

Johnny Rockets sounds like fun and the milk shake's sound great, but, I wonder if the kiddo's would like Deweys Pizza better and it might be cheaper to just get a large pizza and split it, then get ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery (that sounds really yummy right now :)) Guess I will wait and see what everyone is in the mood for at that time.

I have been to Newport Aqaurium a couple of times and really enjoy it. It is a nice aquarium for this area. We have 2 people in my family who love marine life:fish: , so for us it's an all day trip. Most people like to spend a few hours there.

We took our time and we were in there for almost 4 hours. We LOVED it. Learned the proper technique for "petting" sharks. The shark ray Sweet Pea was a big hit with my kids. Both of the kids science teachers gave them extra credit points for doing a report on it.

We walked around the Levee shops after we got done in the aquarium and enjoyed it. We were there on a Friday afternoon, was going to a Reds game that night, so it wasn't packed. They were getting ready for the opening of an Italian Fest and omg did it smell heavenly. If we hadn't had tickets for the Reds game, I would have made sure we went back for the evening.

We went there a few years back when my DD's were younger and they loved it. We were in the area for my Dsis's wedding. She lives right over the border in KY so they took us . The whole area was nice. We'd go back when we go to visit again.
