I've been trying to find reviews of this show and haven't found any. I even searched it and came up with nothing. Please let me know how the food was (and what was served) as well as the entertainment value. It's quite expensive, is it worth it? Thanks!

We have been to the Spirit of Aloha show twice...once in 2003 and once just this past August. We went in August because my parents had not been and wanted to see the show. The food was some kind of roasted chicken (good) rice, veggies, pineapple bread, salad (I didnt like the dressing, but I am super picky)...and a volcano chocolate something dessert. YUM!! The food was good...all you can eat and drink...soda...beer...juice etc. If you wanted a mixed drink it was extra. The show was fun....they do a little korny skit to begin...and then they have everyone who is celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding, etc get up and learn to do the Hula!! Cute! And then they have the hula girls and fire dancers...they are really amazing...and comparable to a real Hawaiian Luau! They come out in full costume and they tell a little history to whatever dance they are doing! It is a nice show if you have never been!! I would recommend seeing it at least once in your Disney World Travels!! Have a great time if you go!! Aloha!!:cool1:

We did this show in September and loved every single minute of it. I am a huge Polynesian fan and love love love anything and everything Hawaiian. I took hula classes here at home for a year and a half before my teacher moved away!

Anyway, I am on a semi restricted gluten free diet, and am allergic to raw fruit and some raw veggies. The chef brought me some of the tenderest chicken I've ever had. I also had some rice with it. My dh commented that the bread and fresh fruit was very good. Because of my dietary restrictions they brought me out a frozen strawberry popsicle bar which I think was sugar free and didn't taste very good so I didn't eat it. I tasted a little bit of the chocolate mousse volcano and it was good but I am not a fan of mousse dessert so I wouldn't have eaten it had I been served it. I did ask the chef to grill me some pineapple, as I explained that I cna't eat the raw fruit but can have it cooked. They forgot to bring it to me during dinner but I got it in a box at the end of the show, it was still yummy though.

The storyline is a little corny but the hula dancing and the fire show is authentic and really amazing. I have pictures of the food but I they are on my other computer and I need to upload them soon.

I am going to move this to the main restaurant board for more exposure.
:thumbsup2

I can't wait we are going for the first time in december we have 3 kids 3,11,12 will they enjoy it and will there be anyting these picky eater will eat?

We went in '06 and again in '07....we have one child who turned 12 yesterday. We all love the dinner show. We all really like the food too. Those ribs are amazing! I love that you can get a glass of wine without charge. The beginning skit is corny but once they get into the dances from all the islands it is incredible.

We went there this past July and we were not huge fans of it. The food was ok, I did really enjoy their pineapple bread and salad though, the entertainment was just ok, and I thought we paid to much and for us it was not worth it. The only way my dh and I could justify going back is if we were in the mood to drink, because there is only so much food you can eat, and the dinner does include some alcohol beverages, which would make the meal worth it. But to each their own, and if you have never been I would suggest trying it because you may love it.

We really enjoyed it when we did it. We were a family group of 10 and had a great table. It was fun and we'd do it again.

We are going Nov. 24th. Me DH DS12 and DD9. It's our first time for this dinner, I'm sure we will have a great time.

We always try and go to the Luau when we visit. We love the food and the show is ok.
When you arrive to your table there is a great salad with mandarin oranges and pinapple bread. Next they bring your meal which is Chicken, ribs, fried rice and vegtables. Everything is great! It is all u can eat so don't be shy about asking for more. For dessert...a wonderful chocolate pyramid. I'm not sure what it is called. It has a thin piece of cake on bottom and sort of a chocolate mousse top. Drizzled with a rasberry sauce. yum!!
Also included is soft drinks and I think beer and wine.
I would not pay the higher priced tickets to be up front. Not worth it. But the cheapest is also not great seats. Level 2 is the way I would go. Tax and tip included.
We pick the earlier show and then wait on poly beach to see the fireworks over the lake and view the castle. Really nice evening.

Just the opposite side, I did not enjoy it very much. I just posted a review on my trip report. It's on the last page on my TR in my signature. With pics.

We enjoyed the food both times we went but the show was way too corny of our taste. If I want corny jokes (whatever) I'll spend the extra money on Hoop Dee Doo. We also like the food at HDD better too.

We've been twice, one back in the 1980's and the last in 2000 and enjoyed it both times. This is not a five star restaurant, since it's served during a fixed time show, but just like HDR the food is good and you have a selection between chicken and beef. We're planning on going back this year since we did the HDR for a second time so the Aloha is up next in the rotation. Little ones will like all the drums and the fire dance stuff so it's good for really young ones as a visual/audible experience.

How interesting that you say that as my 5 & 7 year olds weren't all that into it & neither were dh & I but the baby (6 mos at the time) LOVED it. She was utterly fascinated. See, Disney thinks of everyone. A dinner show for the under 1 set. :lmao:

Did you have to call 72 hours ahead of time for get a special diet request?

I have allergy problem with the meat served--I can't eat beef, pork or chicken.
I can only eat seafood or Vegetarian food which I probably will have to make a special request on.

Not too much to add here, Food was decent atmosphere was great, show corny but it had some really good parts.
Some food pictures too share from our September 27, 2007 visit to the Luau Cove.

Salad, fruit and pineapple bread await as you are seated.

As you can see my brother had no trouble expressing his pleasure of the food presentation.

What kind of attire did you wear? We are going in a week for a friends wedding. They are having the rehersal dinner here. We have matching Hawaiian outfits from our disney cruise. Would those be ok, or should we wear something a little more dressy?

We went in August this year and really liked it. Before we went I read so many negative comments that I nearly cancelled, but as we were lucky enough to be on free DDP we decided to give it a go anyway. We preferred to the Hoop De Hoo, which we did in 2006.

At the Aloha you watched the 2nd part of the show after your dinner was finished (with a few glasses of wine!). It seemed at the Hoop De Hoo that you were rushed out as soon as you'd finished eating because the show had finished. Didn't time either of them so don't know if its because Aloha was longer or we were just served quicker?

Make sure you call and have it listed on your reservation about you dietary requests. I was also on a gluten free diet and was accomodated well. OP, I think the show is worth going to at least once. It is a little boring for me, but I don't regret for a moment going or spending the money to go. I also think the food was decent.
