Anyone been to RFC of PH lately with GC's?

Has anyone been to Rainforest Cafe or Planey Hollywood lateley using your gift certificates. I have amassed a considerable amount at each place and also have some online coupons. A while back some folks were having trouble using them. Just wondering if anybody recently has an stories....

I used mine in December at both Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. They accepted them gladly and with a smile.

I think the problem was folks wanting their Disney Club discount using the gift certificates.

We used ours last October or early November. They took the GC but I wouldn't say it was with a smile. Whe we showed our GC's we were treated a little coldly. Service was still very good but in an impersonable way. If you use the GC's they will automatically tack on the 15% tip. That was too bad because the service we recieved would have garnered a higher tip.

We were also not allowed to use a coupon or our Disney club card. clkelly, why would tha be a problem. I did not see anywhere on the GC that you can't use coupons or a discount card. The GC's are the same as money as they have to be purchased.

I used both in November and didn't have any problems. I didn't use the disney card or any coupons with them though. I also didn't show them until after they brought me the bill

The way RFC works is if you have a $45 bill and give them $50 in gift certs, then they will give you your change back in the form of a voucher that can only be used for food or drinks (not in the gift shop). We had several hundred in the RFC giftcerts, so we ate breakfast one day, then the next day ate supper. On the supper bill, it was around $60, so I used $50 in giftcerts, the voucher they gave us the day before, and then the rest in cash, that way, I wouldn't end up with another voucher that we might not be able to use. The rest of the gf's I used in the gift shop.

They also didn't automatically add in the gratuity with us either, but I guess that is because they didn't know we were using the certs until after they had already given us our bill.

I used the PH at the MGM gift shop.

We ate at Planet Hollywood this past Thursday night. After we were seated, our server asked us very nicely if we had any promotions or coupons. We had a 5.00 off coupon and we were using gift certificates. Our gift certificates were weird looking - I had bought them from someone on ebay. They came in a round film can tin and the certificates themselves were round. The woman had never seen them before and she took them up to a manager, who ok'd them immediately.

The server was extremely polite all through dinner, refilling our drinks and bringing extra napkins, etc. At the end she had already taken off the 5.00 and pointed it out to us. We were very impressed with the service (surprised, actaully, since they were beyond packed). The bill came to 77.00 for 4 people, so we left 3 gcs for the bill with 2.00, and left the tip separately.

I didn't try RFC.

I am glad to hear that our experience, although not bad enough to keep us from returning to PH, was an "individual" experience.

Even though the info I get on the DIS is exceptionally good, I take each story with a grain of salt. I would take my own experience not a bible but as an isolated incident. I don't know if our server was having an off day or just an off time of the day.

I thought for sure you could use your DC discount at the RF even if you had a GC, since the GC is essentially the same as cash. Has anyone else not been able to use the DC discount with a GC? I was going to order a RF GC, but if I can't use my discount I might as well not order the GC.

PH would not let us use GC's with other coupons and said that the GC's were coupons.

we used ours in both the Rest and the gift shop gift shop first they give you money back if under $5

Then in the Rest.we did not show our GC until the bill came.We had no problems.Service was ok and food was very good. We really like RFC esp when it is FREE!!!!


We had over $150 in coupons and then signed up for the RFC club and got more to use on dinner you also get coupons you can use at special times of the year like your annie and DOB.
