Hi - We are headed back here in 12 days and just wondering if anyone has been there recently? We stayed here last June through a private owner and had a great time. But...all the bad reviews on trip advisor just get me wondering.

I value everyone's opinions on these boards and just looking for some recent views of the place.

We absolutely love the pool area and lazy river at this resort and the townhouse we stayed in was very clean...if not basic. The thing about not being able to adjust your thermostat is ridiculous IMO. Just curious to see if they have changed any of these "stupid" rules since last time.

Thanks for any input!!

I am really suprised by the bad reviews. With it being new and all I would think it would be really nice. We haven't stayed here- but have contemplated it. The only thing we found was that the rates were to high for the area when we were looking. If I'm going to stay in Davenport- I want the lower rates for the drive.

We stayed there last summer in a 4 bdrm condo. I was not happy with it at all. The bed was made, but was dirty, dirty dishes in the cuboards, non responsive managers when I did complain, etc. It wasn't worth the hassle, especially when there are places closer to Disney where I would get good service and good customer service.

We're thinking of renting at Regal or DVC...if we do rent Regal where is the best place to rent thgough?

We JUST got back on Sunday night from a 10 night stay in a 4 bedroom townhome and LOVED every minute of it! :cloud9:
This is our second year renting from the same private owner at the Regal Palms and I would go back in a second and I recommend it to everyone! The service was excellent for us...quick check in, no hassel late check out, bar and grill staff was fantastic to us, trash pick up everyday and the POOL AREA IS AMAZING!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
When we stayed last year Jan '05 it was very quiet with not a lot of renters or visitors this year same time much different....lots of activity without being crowded! Fun! The construction is completed?...at least it wasn't going on anywhere we could see or hear of...the spa and gym and fitness center, kids play area and the shuttle bus to the parks is all up and running...oh and don't forget there are restaurant.com gift certificates for the bar and grill! Yippee...
Can you tell we had a great time! Our friends that we took with us this time and their two kids had a blast and just kept commenting on how nice the resort was and how nice the townhome was. We got a GREAT rate of $90 a night through a private owner so per family $45 a night...WooooHoooo better than the Knights Inn! :teacher: :lmao:

Hope this helps...here's to planning next year's trip! :yay:

Onlyoneforme: That is fantastic! Welcome home. So glad to hear that the resort was like we remember it from June. I think all the mixed reviews must have something to do with renting privately or directly through the resort. The four bedroom we rented was also very clean and the service was fine. The only thing I didn't like was the heat/ac cover. But we were told that if it wasn't how we wanted, they would change it. It really wasn't a problem for us at all.

The pool area really is amazing. Was it warm/heated enough to swim? My kids will be disappointed if it is too cold for a day or two at the pool.

We also rent from a private owner and think it has been great. Would the person you are renting from happen to be in the U.K.?

So glad that you had a wonderful trip!!! When's you're next one? Only kidding! Well not really....I always start thinking about the next vacation while I'm on one. Now I just have to pay for the next couple I've got planned!!

Hi Heather C,

See you there :wave2: ....we're going on the 16th Feb for 10 days. Our first trip (booked through private owner based in Devon in the UK). Can't wait !!!!!

Our private owner IS from the UK! Actually it seems that this a very popular place with the UKers! :sunny:
The pool was very warm...steam rising off it some mornings! It was very comfortable temp but the getting in and out for the water slide was a bit nippy!
Our private rental townhome allowed us access to change our thermostat ourselves so that was not a problem at all.
I hope both you and Jdybnsn have a fantastic time!
Crossing my fingers for a trip in Jan/Feb '07 with my then 7 year old and 6 month old son! :thumbsup2

How do I get the restaurant.com certificates. I mean, I know HOW to get them, but I don't know the name of the restaurant I'm looking for!

ETA: NEVER MIND, I found it! Is there any limit to the number of certificates you can use per stay or for that matter, per meal? I don't want to buy a bunch, and then find out that I can only use one per stay or something like that.
