Anyone Been to MK Today? Is Pirates Open or Closed?

OK Everyone, here's the deal. We are leaving at 2:00pm Central Time Tomorrow, March 1st to drive to WDW! We will be staying in Ocala tomorrow night and then driving in bright and early on Thursday.

I've heard rumors that Pirates of the Carribbean could be closing on March 1st, 3rd, or 6th (or really any other random day that they choose!).

If PoC is running on Wednesday March 1st, then when we get there on Thursday we will be going straight to MK since Pirates is DS's favorite ride in all of Disney!

If PoC is NOT running on Wednesday March 1st, then we will be going straight to AK so that DD can ride EE (hopefully EE will be running!)

So, here is what I need from you all...

AS SOON AS SOMEONE KNOWS IF PoC IS (or is not) RUNNING TOMORROW, LET US KNOW!!!!

From AllEars: "Pirates of the Caribbean - will close the attraction in March to update the attraction to include characaters from the Movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Reopens July 7th. The attraction will feature the addition of two of Hollywood’s most infamous buccaneers, Captain Jack Sparrow and his nemesis Captain Barbossa. Joining the wildest crew that ever sacked the Spanish Main, Captain Jack and Barbossa add an exciting new twist to the attraction’s original storyline as they race to be the first to claim a cache of plundered treasure. The rival swashbucklers will be seen interacting with some of the more familiar Audio-Animatronics buccaneers found inside the ride-thru adventure. Also making a guest appearance is the ghostly Davy Jones from the second movie in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. But new characters are only the beginning. New special effects will also be added to enhance the “Pirates of the Caribbean” theme park experience."

This information is confirmed on the official Disney site, if you look for Operational Updates, then go to Magic Kingdom and the month, you get this "Pirates of the Caribbean: Closed for Refurbishment [March 1, 2006 to March 31, 2006]" every month thru to July.

I don't know whether they'd open it just for one day here and there, but if they're really updating it, I would think they probably wouldn't be able to. Sorry the news isn't better...

I think it is closed, we were there on Monday, and I think I noticed that it would be closed starting tomorrow.

Ok I was able to find my Times Guide for MK this week and it is definetly closing tomorrow for refurbishment.

according to one of the CM's, who might, or might not, know what they are talking about -

He said that POC would close for a little while to spruce up, and then open for a little while, and then shut down to add the Jack character, and then open up permanently.

Take this for what it's worth. I can't vouch for the accuary of the CM - but he would know more than myself.

I knew that the Disney website had it down starting March 1st. Ricky Brigante with the Inside the Magic podcast had reported that there were multiple rumors as to when it would be closing for sure. He said, March 3rd or 6th, but if you really wanted to make sure that you didn't miss it that you should go before the end of February. I realize that it is a slim chance that it could be running but, just in case...

If someone finds out that it is then, let us know quick!!!

Magic Kingdom has been open for an hour now. Anyone have any reports? Is Pirates Running?

From the official Disney site: Pirates of the Caribbean: Closed for Refurbishment [March 1, 2006 to March 31, 2006]

I have found that WDW is good about closing on the scheduled time, just not always reopening on the set date.

Officially the ride will close March 1 - 31, reopen April 1 - May 1, close down May 1 until the end of refurbishment (No later than July 7).

During the march 1 - 31 closure, no noticeable changes to the public will be made.

If you have been in the park today (March 1, 2006) is Pirates running today?

I have not been TO the park today but I called and it was confirmed that the attraction has been closed today.

Even if it was running today, it would be unlikely to be running tomorrow. But, you don't want to hear from me, because I decided not to go to MK today.
