Anyone been to DLC?

Hi Wayne, that was 25 May 08 - 8 June 08. I'm also looking at 13 June 08 to 27 June 08 but anytime inbetween is good too. Thanks for having a look for me. I've just had a 'moment' looking at the WDW Community photos - maybe we should go back to Orlando instead?!? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

The 25th is a Sunday and the 13th is a Friday, it is normally cheaper to fly on a Tuesday if your dates are flexible?

Hi Claire,

Yes we are intending to stay two weeks in LA. We had thought that we'd leave SanFran/Vegas for another trip. Although its beginning to look like this will be our last trip to the states (that is if we pay off our wedding first! lol small insidental detail that I keep forgetting! :rotfl: ) for a while. I was just looking at the new MGM signage and I'm honesick for Orlando now lol I must see other places in the world, I must see other places in the world, I must see other places in the world :rotfl2:

We LOVE California and DLC is very sweet. For a guide book try the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland and for a more general view of the area either Fodors or Frommers are good.

We stayed at the Hyatt on Newport Beach and it was a great base for getting to other places from. As for weather we were there late June to early July in 2003 and the weather was lovely about 80 and a dry heat.

Claire ;)

Ooh thanks Claire I didn't know that. Yes we can go anytime. I'll write that down - everythings gotta be written down or it goes in one and out the other

If you went the next day on the 26th, Expedia have lots of options from £468 each.
I agree 2 weeks is a long time around Disneyland. 1st time we spent 9 nights there, that was enough. This year we did 4 days in Vegas then 5 days around Disneyland, for 2nd visit that was enough.
Next time we are considering Vegas/San Fransisco and driving between the 2:scared1: I am not a fan of driving but this last trip driving out to The Grand Canyon was amazing, now want to do a driving trip instead of the internal flights. We flew between Vegas and LAX, 38 mins, by the time we had checked in, waited, flown picked up another car and driven to hotel we could have just driven from Vegas.
We got a Southern Cali city pass, about £100 each http://www.citypass.com/city/socal.html found them great value.

Other option is week around LA then a week in Florida.
Too many options.:rotfl:
We were planning going West again this Oct but DW just found out she cant have off work so will have to wait until next year.

Thanks Wayne, I'll check out those Expedia deals. I know that is exactly the problem - so many options  it's a great thing to have so many possibilities but it does make my head hurt a little lol I like the LA/Orlando idea. That is a shame that you DW can't get the time off work - don't they know it's for Disney? :goodvibes

We have 3 trips to Florida booked this year so can't complain (well go on then I can:rotfl: ), The lady she works with wants to visit India for 3 weeks in Oct and they can't both be off together.:sad1:
After over 7 weeks in Florida this year I will be fine, I just need some warm weather now:goodvibes
I think my the end of the year we will have totalled about 50 weeks in Florida, there should be some kind of honorary citizenship when you reach so many weeks.

Wayne,
We drove between SF and LV in 2006 it was a wonderful trip and my favourite so far :)

Thanks Claire. I'll check out that hotel and the unofficial Guide - I have the Orlando ones. xx

Yep I'd definitely say that there can be no grumbling there, well ok just a little :lmao:

Like the medal idea - we've only totalled 4 weeks - I've got a long way to go :rotfl:

I loved our West Coast holiday we did LA (6 nights), LV (3 nights), SF (5 nights), I think 2 weeks in LA would be too much.

I know what you mean about wanting to always go back to Orlando but at least with LA you still get a Disney fix.

Yes agree two weeks in LA maybe a little too much we managed well with 9 nights :) The rest of the holiday was spent in SF and then travelling down Route 1.

Claire ;)

Did you stop off anywhere on the way? how long did it take?

We did a leisurely drive over 3 weeks starting in SF then heading to LAke Tahoe, Yosemite, Barstow and the GC before LV.

Claire ;)

Do you think you could do a driving holiday in 2 weeks from SF, LV and LA? Or would that be too much driving in 2 weeks?

I like the idea of driving rather than flying, as Wayne said all the getting on and off flights would be boring and possibly just as time consuming. At least you can stop off on the way.

You could do SF to LA with a one night stop over midway, but it may mean missing a bit of the old route 1, ie Big Sur, and driving down the freeway. Also alot of people do LA to LV in one go as the freeway is nice and direct.

Claire ;)

We love Disneyland California. For a first trip of a two-week duration, I would advise to spend the entire time in LA. There are lots of wonderful things to see and do in addition to Disneyland Resort - Universal Studios, Warner Bros Studios VIP Studio Tour, Sony Studio Tour, Hollywood/El Capitan, gorgeous beaches (Huntington/Venice), great shopping. It's also only an hour and a half to two hours from San Diego which would make a great day trip or stay over, with SeaWorld, Legoland and more great beaches. Alternatively there are helicopter and boat excursions to the beautiful Catalina Island.

Hope you have fun planning. One of my TRs has some details and pictures about one of our trips to LA and its attractions.
