Yes, it will be crazy. The MK will probably fill up quickly, and at a certain point, they will stop letting people in. The other parks may be more manageable.
A few years ago, we were staying at WDW for a couple of weeks, with the Memorial Day weekend smack in the middle. We made plans to go elsewhere Sunday and Monday.
I respectfully disagree. We have been to WDW over MD for the past five years and it has been managable. While I must admit the MK does get crazy the Sunday before MD and on MD. As long as you are willing to get to the parks early and use Fastpass you will be fine. One more point is to avoid, at all costs, the park that is opening early with EMH. I have found that if you visit the park that has had evening EMH the night before you will find things much less crowded. We would be heading back down this MD but we are going on a 7 night Disney Cruise over July 4th instead. Have fun!!!
We'll be there the same time and I'm wondering the same, although we were there MD about 4 years ago. We got to MK early (opening) and had done all we wanted by noon and enjoyed the rest of the day at Mk doing whatever we wanted with not much wait time (FP is the best!!). I hadn't realized it was even MD until around 5 pm it dawned on me why the park was feeling more and more crowed by the minute. By Tuesday it was back to having the park to an extremely manageable level. You will need to have a basic plan to play off of though.
We went last Memorial Day weekend, and I didn't think it was too bad. Some of the popular rides got up to 45 minutes, but we didn't wait much more than 20 minutes for anything else. And, amazingly, we were able to get into restaurants without ADRs. We got into Sci-Fi at MGM in only 5 minutes - and it was at noon!
I agree with Tonyspad. We have gone during that week about 3 times and have done just fine. Make sure you plan your days using the UG site best days/worst days and you should be fine.
We have been there 3 times over Memorial Day Weekend and honestly have had no problems. If something happens to be crowded and busy something else will not be. The thing to remember is to remain flexible.
Hi! We were there the week surrounding Mem Day last year...I didn't think it was that crazy at all. We opened the parks most mornings which helped, but still...don't remember waiting much more than 15 minutes or so for most things even later in the day. We used fastpass for the biggies, of course. We took our day off for DTD on the Sunday, and went to BB on Monday...not too bad. I say it's a great time to go as parks are open late but it's not mega-crowded! Have a great time!
