Has anyone ever been to Discover Cove? Is it worth the money? And is there an age requirement to swim with the Dolphins or snorkel?

Start at the first page of DisBoards, then scroll down past the Disney boards and you will come to one Sea World/Discovery Cove. Will answer all your questions.

Been twice and loved it there. We did not do dolphin encounter and did have discounted tickets.

Yes there is an age minimum for dolphin, not sure on snorkel.....but the water is cold, deep and I would suggest a wet suit and vest for any child, even if they swim well. Then they (and you) can focus on the fish not swimming.

We went in Sept (2007) and it was wonderful!:lovestruc You must be 6 years old to swim with dolphins. No age min. on other parts (inc. snorkeling). My DD was almost 8 when we did it.

It was totally worth it! I would say it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience but I definitely want to do it again! :cloud9:

We were a group of 4. My DD8 and myself did the Dolphin Experience. My DM and DSis didn't do the dolphins. I was able to get a discount through AmEx for $50 off (actually a $50 gift card) if you did the dolphins so we paid $229/ea to do the dolphins, $179 without dolphins.

DD had the best time with our dolphin, CJ. Here's a pix of her with CJ

Definitely check out the Sea World threads. It's where I found alot of info. Read the trip reports there as well.

Also, great food. We loved just being able to walk up and get food and/or drink anytime we wanted, without paying. Alot like free DDP! :cloud9:

I was just telling someone about DC yesterday!

It's pricey but totally worth it. My DH and mom did the dolphin encounter and both had a great time. We didn't have great weather in May but it was still a good time.

We've learned that every time we didn't want to spend the money on something we've regretted it. So far everything we've spent the money on was worth the experience! I'm glad we got free Sea World tickets with our package b/c it was disappointing compared to our day at DC.

I've been twice.

It's wonderful!
