I have referred 2 families with medically fragile children to Make a Wish and both were approved for trips to Disney. One of the moms was asking if they are allowed to pick their own restaurants/if she can make adrs so I thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has experience with this. Thanks.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there are some links in post #3 that will be helpful to you. In the alphabetical section, there is a portion about Make A Wish trips.

Sue, do you think you could put the thread LindaBabe referred to in the same FAQ section? Karen

It's been there since that section started - I figured if you didn't see it, it might need to be more obvious. I edited the link to make it stand out more.

We took a Make a wish trip in August with my daughter.Usually how it works is that you recieve accomidations and park passes and then a expense check to cover meals. In our experience our wish team made one ADR for us(it was part of my daughter's specific wish to meet Cinderella) but other ADR's were up to us.What you choose to do while there is completely up to you,you can go to all the parks or not at all.I hope they have a fabulous time-our trip was certainly unforgettable.

We went on a MAW trip this past august and the way it works is they give you an allowance for every person everyday and you can use it in whichever way you would like. I believe the allowance in WDW is smaller because since they stay at GKTW village and they provide food there they assume not so much meals out are needed. I know that from my friend whose son had cancer at the same time my daughter did.
We went to Disneyland and our allowance was higher for the same amount of people because we stayed in a hotel without food included.
