Hi

We have just returned from Florida having just spent 2 weeks during the Easter Hols there. This was our fifth holiday there but our first at Easter, the crowds were busy, Magic Kingdom being the worst, but overall not much different to the other times we've been. They are very good at moving the queue's quickly.

The key is to get there for the park opening before they get really busy and always go to the busiest rides first. The parks open for longer during the Easter period, Magic Kingdom opened at 8am and we got there for this time, and managed to do a lot of the rides and shows in the first 2 hours before the crowds arrived.

Although the Easter hols are the same in America, they stagger their school holidays, which means they are not flooded with too many people at once.

The weather was in the 70's to low 80's with very little rain. Ocassionally we needed a jumper very early in the morning or in the evening around 8/9pm, but otherwise lovely, hot and sunny.

Best wishes

thanks for all your answers to my questions, i did'nt realise the parks open at 8am is that the official time or does it depend how many people are outside the gates?
thanks again
Wendy

We've been just after Easter on two occasions (99 & 2000) - it's a great time to visit :D

Once the main Easter break is over the crowds get much lighter (although the parks are not open as late). The weather has also been good - varying from low 70s to mid 80s.

It's DH's favourite time of year to visit

We went between easter and memorial day last year and the combination of low crowds and great weather was so good we are going the same time this year !

We found that visiting the parks at this time of year is much more pleasurable than in the summer months - wait times for the rides hardly ever topped 10/15 mins and most were straight walk-on's - the parks hours are shorter but we definately got to do more in one day at this time of year than in summer.

The weather in April/May is fantastic - last year temperatures hit the 80'/90's every day - there is a lower humidity level which is much more comfortable on long days in the parks and more importantly there is also less chance of rainfall - we only had a few spots of rain on one day of our trip last year !

Obviously the low crowds/good weather combination can not be guaranteed - but statistically it does happen !!!

Hope this helps !

ps - just noticed my countdown is on single figures:jumping1:

Wendy,

As others have said, it will be very quiet after the busy Easter period - a great time to go for both crowds and weather.

As it will be quiet, you will be able to plan your days to suit your preferences as a family. Due to the jetlag, you will be awake very early for the first few days, so you may as well take the opportunity to hit some parks early. After that, if you prefer to lie in, that shouldn't be a problem. We don't normally stay onsite, so our normal strategy, even during slower times, is to avoid Early Entry days. I'm sure if we did stay onsite, though, we might want to take advantage of them. Are you aware that Disney is also testing Extra Magic Hour evenings for its resort guests during May of this year? You can find more information on the main Theme Parks forum and the main DIS site. The concensus seems to be that, if it's a success, it will become a permanent feature.
