anyone been afraid of normal things?

I have always been afraid of the toilet??? I don't know why I just keep think a hand is going to reach up and grab me...

please tell me I'm not the only one that is afraid of normal things and turn it in to weird...

I was always afraid of my grandparents basement stairs. They have no backs. You can see right through them. I was always afraid I would either get a foot stuck and be upside down or a hand would get me.

I am glad I am not the only one freaked out by the toliet I always imagine a snake comming up to bite me. No idea where I got that from. It is absolutely nutty I know but I have to will myself to not freak out when I go.

I'm afraid of our basement. Our house is really old..and the basement cannot be "lived in" but some cable stuff and the hot water tanks are down there..and the whole area just gives me the creeps!

My 17 year old DD is afraid of escalators, going up or down. This has just been with in the past two years that she refuses to get on one. The worst time was when we got off on the monorail at the CR to eat at Chef Mickeys. We all came down thinking she would give in and follow us, but no. She stood up there about in tears, so I went back up and came down the elevator with her. The CM up there says it happens all of the time.

Great, now I'm afraid of hands grabbing me in various places.



I've been afraid of butterflies since a particular page in a little golden book. They just fly way too strangely. Dragonflies I can handle, but I avoid butterflies.

DH has always been afraid of sunflowers, and it only got worse when his brother (9 years older) lopped off the head of one and put it on DH's pillow while he was sleeping, a la The Godfather. I guess DH freaked out pretty bad.

And then...we had a garden wedding in August. Strange, that.

I have always hated those kind of stairs-same exact reasons! I used to be afraid of my grandparents basement and their upstairs. At our home we didn't have an upstairs bedroom, so I was afraid. I was also 7.

I cannot sleep with a hand or foot sticking over the side of the bed. I must have at least a sheet, and then I am tucked in under the arm that is near the side.

The car wash.. Can not - will not - go through the car wash.. Scares the bejeepers out of me...

My Dson-in-law was kind enough to take my van through the car wash for me last week..

I don't even know "what" it is about it that scares me.. It just does..

I think this sometimes at night. For me it has been ever since an episode of X Files where this strange guy had the ability to squeeze himself through pipes, toilets etc - very creepy

Me too. Not every single time but toilets in new houses or down in FL when we visit my mil! It's not like afraid to go but I always look before sitting

I'm terrified of water. Dh thinks it's a bit crazy that I can't dunk my head under. I know it's normal to be afraid of the water but I have a full on panic attack if I dunk my head.

When I turn off the lights I run like crazy and jump at my bed. For two reasons:
1. Once the lights are turned off, something is right behind me is trying to eat me.
2. something is under my bed and will attempt to grab my legs.
Well at least that's what my imagination makes up

You're not alone, I have a toilet problem as well. Not so much during the day, but at night if I get up to go to the bathroom I cannot go in the dark. I have to turn the light on, to actually see that there is nothing in there. I know it's stupid and silly, and I'm always telling myself that blind people can't look in before they go, why do I feel that I have to?

Maybe it's from using outhouses when I was a kid, and always worried a spider or something worse was going to bite my butt!

Plus reading a certain Stephen King book didn't help with that either!
