Anyone bagged the 'two' seats at the back on VA?

A few years ago you could pre-assign the seats on rows 61 to 64 at the back of a VA flight. I'm sure I've read on DIS that VA realised how sort after these seats were and started charging extra for them, as well as not allowing you to pre-assign them either. Anyone know if this is still the case and if so how much they are? Secondly, if you can 'buy' them, does this exclude you from getting them on-line 24 hrs before departure?

Sorry, can't help you but just wondered why these seats are so sort after?

Virgin and BA usually fly planes to MCO which have a 3-4-3 seating arrangement which means that there is no way for a couple to sit alone - one of them always has to sit next to another party. The exception is the two seats at the back where the plane narrows (although these are right by the toilets ).

One of the reasons we enjoy flying American Airlines is the 2-5-2 seating arrangement they usually operate.

As far as I can remember the seats are released 24hrs before the flight leaves and are availible to pre-book for £20 return though This may have changed. There have been several heated discussions on here in the past as to why VA suddenly started charging for these seats. Have sat in these several times but would not pay to sit here sorry

We have requested these seats online (we don't fly until December) for our return flight, we did not have to pay and extra money for them?

Our flights have about 5 rows of these at the rear of the plane? Are we on a different plane? Were flying man to mco

We have also 'reserved' these seats online for our flight in Sept/Oct - we are flying into Miami though which may make a difference.

We have sat here on all our four trips to disney. We usually book a good year before departure and reserve the seats at the earliest possible time. We have been lucky enough to always get them on both legs. If I were a couple I would happily pay a fee for them up to £30 each as we like them. We now have a son and so they are nolonger any good to us but sitting in the row of three now suits us perfectly!

it was said last year, that people were reserving these seats, but when they went back to look later, they had been moved,as these seats were now charged for.it came as a surprise,to many people,so don't be surprised,if you don't find yourself,in these seats.
tracy

We reserved the two seats in row 61 (the first of the rows of two) on both our outbound and homeward Virgin flights ~ I think it was H and K and there was no charge for these seats. We had them on the outbound flight but lost them on the homeward one. They were still 'ours' ;) for the homeward flight when we checked the day before our outbound one but when we got to DTD check-in we had been moved forward down the plane. The seats we'd reserved had already gone but I couldn't be bothered to make a fuss ~ we were still sat together with our three DDs in the row in front and as they don't guarantee you will keep your reserved seats I thought it would be pointless.

They're great seats if you can get them. :thumbsup2

We checked in on line the day before our return last august and swapped to these seats at no extra charge and we really liked them. We have decided on our next VA flight (next year to Sydney Australia) that we would either try for these seats of book the extra leg room seats (I wanted to book PE but it is £1000 more per person per ticket!!)

The way I understand it is .... Row 61 can be pre-booked the sets of 2 behind cannot and are charged for extra legroom. Not 100% sure but I think this is the case as we booked Row 61 11 months out last year and kept them both ways ... Hope this helps

I've sat in these seats on other airlines and they were great when you're in a couple as you don't get disturbed or need to disturb anyone else to get in/out.

Last year (on our honeymoon) we didn't get ANY of our online seat 'requests' and the check in staff were incredibly rude when questioned about it, which put a real downer on our last few hours in Orlando! We flew MAN - MCO and found the whole experience with Virgin to be very poor but they are our only realistic choice for regular non-stop flights.

This made me realise I’d totally forgotten to do this and now all the good seats are gone!

When do they release more?

I got them last year after checking in online. We found them good as we were given a bit more privacy and space (though the window seat has less room due to the curved shaped of the plane) than being stuck in those awful middle rows. Year before got stuck in the middle of the middle row, strangers either side -not good if you're claustrophopic!:scared1:

Anyways, didn't have to pay a fee or anything. Though one drawback was we were pretty far back in the queue for customs as there was no way we could get off the plane any earlier due to being so far back.

We're flying man-orl with Virgin, we have rows 34 there & 35 back, I picked these because there were the nearest one's availble to the front, so I thought it would make getting off quicker. Am I right in presuming that the exit door is the one just behind PE seats? Also, if some seats are held back, should I change them when I check in? Which are the better seats for 3?
