I’d love some opinions of where a good last night at WDW family dinner, which also happens to be a child’s 7th birthday. 🥳 We will have already done a character breakfast. I’m not particularly interested in CRT or Be Our Guest. But, any other places in the parks or resorts that would be fun for a 2,4, and 7 year old. (And why if it’s not too much to ask - it’ll help me decide). We are getting close to the 60 day mark! Help! 😄

If you want to stay away from characters, two that I’d suggest (different price points) would be Round Up Rodeo BBQ and Beaches & Cream - both were hits with my kiddo who’s about the same age - they’re both festive and a little interactive (but not so much that it’s overpowering). HBD!

What kind of things does you 7 year old like? Do they have a favorite type of food?

I know my choice would have been Rainforest Cafe, I picked that for every birthday when we still had one nearby. But that may be a no go with the two littler ones.

Are you on the dinning plan? Where you staying? Gender of the birthday kid? How many people. So many factors
No dining plan. 8 adults (parents - us, adult daughters and their husbands), 3 littles (F-7, M-4, F- 2). Staying at OKW but will probably be in a park (TBD which one) at dinner time.

No favorite food… depends on her mood - ha,ha. Probably not seafood unless it’s salmon. She is not into classic/older Disney shows. Likes the newer ones - Moana, Mirabel (sorry, name of show is escaping me me), Wish (I think that’s Disney…?). Very into arts and crafts and sports. Thanks!

Mirabel is at 1900 park fare. 1900 park fare isn’t really a character meal but a princess one and it’s more upscale. The food is actually pretty good to boot. This is a uniquely Disney meal and where I would take my daughters for dinner for their birthday (assuming I’m on the dinning plan cause the price tag is pretty hefty. Like where else but Disney can you dine with princesses? But when they are under 9 the dinning plans a good deal. The price would be over $500 easily though.

dinning plan for kids under 9 isn’t a bad deal

There’s an ice cream parlor that’s easier to get into than Beaches and Cream and has better ice cream. It’s in the SwanDolphin and called “Fountain”.

The Chicken Guy @ Disney Springs wowed the traveling kiddos on my end.
Never had one but hear the ice cream shakes are wonderous.

The Cake Bake Shop has amazing decor and great savory food and sweets. Has a cute birthday routine for the table and can be enjoyed by young and old. There’s a thread with pics to drool over, lol.

Another possibility: The Polite Pig. Pretty decent bbq and burgers too (beats Regal Eagle by a mile). Free to have dessert there or roam Disney Springs for the sweets of your choice.

Check for an ADR at Open Table for many of these spots. Much easier to acquire than at Disney’s reservation site.

Wherever you go have fun.

My kids are all about via Napoli! It can accommodate larger groups. Great pizza. Doesn’t scream Disney but the food is solid and it’s smack in the middle of Epcot.
We’ve only been for breakfast but Hollywood and Vine is fun.
Food isn’t fantastic but it’s decent and fun vibe at Tony’s town square. So why there? Location location location. Super easy to arrive at MK, have an early dinner, then finish out your night at MK.
Second vote for whispering canyon. It can get loud but the servers are excellent at reading your group and adjusting shenanigans accordingly.
If you have a hard time booking for 8 book two groups of 4 within a few mins of arrival time and show up early and ask to be seated together…most restaurants can accommodate.
You mentioned the 60 day window is soon but not actual travel time. Watch for any holiday happenings when booking which will effect availability and experience in MK and HS.

Here are some ideas if you are going to be having the birthday dinner in a park. I'm leaning toward memorable, stereotypical kid food options or both.

AK-Rainforest Cafe
HS-Sci-Fi dine in (might need to split party in 2 groups if you want to dine in a car)
MK-Liberty Tree Tavern or BOG
EP-Coral Reef, Space 220 or Via Napoli

My kids loved Rainforest Cafe at that age. I believe there is a Rainforest outside of Animal Kingdom and in Disney Springs. I considered ordering a birthday cake on our last Disney vacation. The Disney cakes I saw were small and expensive (in my opinion). I looked at ordering a cake off site. This became complicated. I finally said-let it go.

Whispering Canyon is a real hoot. Both kids and adults had a great time. It’s a short boat ride from MK to the beautiful Wilderness Lodge.
