How was the Courtyard Marriott DTD? And where did you stay, Tower or Courtyard? Please fill me in.

I've seen posts by Emme & Ray Sharpton re. CbM......LOTS of good info...You could find them by doing a "Courtyard by Marriott" search......

I'm going to be there 8/31 - 9/4, & they've answered all of my questions about the hotel.......

Just returned from cbm on Friday.(5 nites) Staff was very friendly, however they quickly informed me that the 20.03 rate was not available for tower rooms! She even showed me the memo the manager put out informing the check in staff! Our wing room was in need of some work, but was clean..... until I discovered a HUGE roach in the bathroom. They tried to convince me that it was a palmetto bug (I'm from Miami and have seen palmetto bugs and know the difference) I stepped on it and called the front desk immediately! Engineering came up and cleaned up my squashed friend, fixed my broken safe, replaced the cracked mirror on the closet door, and tightened the toliet to the floor! I complained to the Hospitality Manager the next day regarding the rudeness of the night manager (he offered to move us to another hotel at our expense as they had no other rooms available, and said all rooms in Orlando had bugs, he even had them in his house!!!) and we ended up with free drinks at the bar and breakfast buffet for our entire party of 4. All in all, the room ended up being worth the 20.03 rate once all the repairs were done. I never saw another "bug" the rest of the week! Had only one problem with the bus schedule... we waited for an hour and the Epcot bus never came... told the front desk and they arranged for a taxi to take us and another family at cbm's expense. They other days the buses were on time. I guess it is the luck of the draw... sounds like some rooms are fine, while others are in need of minor repair. My room was wing, second floor facing the pool. It was VERY soundproof. Response time for complaints was less than 10 minutes! We waited for over an hour at Coronado Springs ( stayed there two nites before CBM) for extra towels and pillows! The walk to DD was only 10 minutes... very easy and scenic, on a lighted sidewalk. Would I stay there again? Probably if they offer the 20.04 next year!

We had a tower room #803 during week of 8/11-8/18 with $20.03 rate. View of I-4 wasn't great but noise really was not loud except if sliding door was left open.

I was there two weeks ago, too, and I had a great time.

I was in the tower, room #1014, no balcony.

For some more information, just click on my link below the pictures.

We arrived at about 1pm on 8/17 and no one was seated at the Marriotts reward desk so I waited at the counter. The girl informed me we could check in but the room would not be ready until 4pm. She informed we were on the 12th floor overlooking hotel royal plaza (first thought in my mind--no balcony). I asked if they had any other rooms available on the opposite side and she said no--we are full!! We went back at 4pm and were given connecting rooms #1216 & 1217. Not good--they had a musty odor that would not quit! I went back down and now a lady was seated at the Marriotts reward desk. I explained how we stayed here last year and had great rooms, etc. When she pulled up my reservation--I saw it said block rooms--near elevator. I asked if we could be moved to the opposite side and she said absolutely not. The 20.03 rooms were all overlooking the hotel royal plaza. She also told me the hotel was full, and how could she justify putting a person who paid 20.03 a night next to someone who paid 139.00 night. I looked at her and said--you know and I know that nobody in this place is paying 139.00 night. I think you are discriminating against the 20.03 people because we were not told at reservation time of all these exceptions. I told her every hotel on this strip is hurting for customers. Needless to say, we were moved to the 8th floor the next day--not connecting, but both overlooking Downtown Disney!! The rest of the stay was great--rooms were much better with the balcony--no musty smell. The staff couldn't of been friendlier. If we go next year--I will surely ask if their are any exceptions to the rate.
Overall, we had a great time! Hope everyone else enjoyed their stay.

I too checked in on 8/17, had room 807 looking out at downtown disney. I had the 39.00 rate from DU. Unfortunately had no more availbility at the 20.03 rate when i booked. For $39 i would definitley stay there again. the pools were nice and so was jacuzzi. Only ate at the restaurant once and the food was good, the service was terrible. Waitress must have been knew. The manager reception was nice. Only went to it once out of the 4 nites we were there. Would definitely stay there again.

We too arrived on the 17th and were told that for the $20.03 rate our request for a king bed could not be honored, and that the rooms blocked by the hotel did not include a Downtown Disney view. We were placed in 901 in the tower with an I-4 view. I didn't care for it (not noisy, just liked the wing on 5th floor better last year--both had balconies) but hubby loved it. He liked to watch the afternoon thunderstorms move through the area, but then he's a weather nut! The room was clean, and you just can't beat the price!

Did you request the king bed at the time you made the reservation, or did they ask you what size bed? When I called to make my $20.03 reservations, the reservations manager asked me if I wanted two doubles or one king. Where are the rooms with the king size beds? From what I'm reading I'm not going to plan on getting a king size bed.

DJT: I asked for a king bed when I made the reservations and it's also in my Marriott rewards preferences. The two beds worked out ok for us.

I was told the Courtyard is renovating its rooms and the newer rooms will have queen size beds. You can't request a queen size bed, but she said to ask for a larger room. This would probably get us the queen beds. Has anyone stayed in one of the renovated rooms?

Also, we have a hodpodge of reservations. For 7 nights, the first two are $49 and called Hotel Promotional rate. The next three nights are the much coveted $20.03 rate. Then the last two nights are AAA rate of $69 per night. That comes to $296 total for 7 nights, or $42 per night. Not bad. But from what I'm reading, the hotel has blocked out certain rooms for the $20.03 rate. I wonder if we will be made to move for the dates at $20.03?

Hmmm, reading this has made me nervous.

We went last year and had a GREAT room with balcony, etc. in the tower. So, we had no hesitation in booking this year.

We are leaving tomorrow. Has anyone else in the past week or so gotten a good room? We are also having to pay more ($49) on Monday since they said the $20.03 was not available on Labor Day. Wonder if we'll have bad or stinky rooms? I don't care as much but I'm taking my parents on this trip in another room and I've raved about how great it was last year. Has anyone come back in the past week that did have a great room?

Also which is the hotel plaza side? Is that the pool side or opposite? I can't remember at all. Last year we faced the front parking lot (which was fine...the room was great) Thanks in advance :)

The hotel royal plaza is on the opposite side of the pool. They won't make you move your room because of the 20.03, but if you are on the hotel royal plaza side, and you walk in to a musty room with no balcony--ask to be moved!!

I was just there and had two connecting rooms and one other room, all in the tower. the two connecting over looked the pools and had a balcony.

Crazyme5kids---
Did you request the connecting rooms? Were they okay (ie, no musty smell that others say they experienced)? We requested the same thing and go later in Sept. These posts have me a little worried! :)

Thanks!

Yes I requested connecting rooms, in fact I told them I had to have two of the rooms connecting due to the fact it was just myself and my four children. The other room was for my friend and her son, so that one didn't need to conncet.
My rooms were fine, no oder and very clean. This hotel is basic, not real fancy but the staff is very accomodating. Anything I needed from housekeeping was brought promptly. I left a note (and tip) for housekeeping to leave extra shampoo and soap and towels, they left more than enough everyday.
The pools were very clean by the way. My kids enjoyed the arcade, and my younger ones loved the Parrot and having Shirly Temples during the managers reception.

Crazyme--
Thanks so much for the reply. I'm so glad to hear a positive experience. CBM has been great over the phone...I'm just hoping that everything will fall into place when we get there. We are counting down the days!

BTW, did you tip housekeeping? If yes, how much and how often?

Thanks,

DD Courtyard $20.03 Review For Those Going...
We just got back from a WONDERFUL 6 night stay at the DD Courtyard Marriott. We had the 20.03 rate and it was just lovely!

They gave us the 12th floor and we saw MK, EPCOT and MGM's fireworks every evening from our balcony! The room was large and very clean. The hotel is laid out in a sort of square with the atrium and lobby in the middle and the rooms circle upward around it. You can leave your room and look down into the center lobby, for us, 12 floors below. It was very quiet and the staff went above and beyond! We used the bus system several times and it was fine. The morning buses to the parks left every half hour ex. 8:00, 8:30, 9:00... The return buses came every half hour too only it was 15 and 45 after ex.2:15, 2:45, 3:15...

We ate breakfast there once and it was pretty good, a very good deal only 7.95 per adult, and you got a ton of all you can eat food. The pool was nice, not huge, but comfortable, nicely landscaped though.

We attended the Managers reception several times and had a blast. From 5-6:00 every evening the managers of the hotel serve you FREE beer, wine, soda, popcorn, corn chips, and salsa. It was a lot of fun and well attended. Be sure and check out all the different Disney ice creams in the lobby (mickey bars, buzz pops, goofy cones...).

I must say that I know others have said there is no Disney magic at this hotel, BUT...with our view of Downtown Disney and the fireworks, Disney ice cream bars, a lovely Disney gift shop in the lobby and the wonderful over accomodating staff...we felt this hotel was indeed magical and worth well over the 20.03 we paid!!

Any other questions please ask!! I will be happy to answer them all!

Emmy

Is anyone else back this week from the CBM? If so, how were your rooms and where were they located. I am really curious. We leave in 3 weeks.

Thanks,
Angee

We just got back on Wednesday. We were actually in the wing, 4th floor facing the pool area. It's all in like a square and next to no walk to get to the wing. We liked our room location, the elevator is right next to the back door parking lot so it was easy as pie to get all the kids and all our stuff inside and to our room. We do however wish we had gotten a room high in the tower because heck with Sea World and anything else we did, my 2 year old dd and 3 year old nephew's favorite thing from our Orlando trip was riding that glass elevator...hee hee. We did manage to take a number of "rides" on it anyway, lol.

We didn't take advantage of the manager hour, but were sitting there figuring out what to do for dinner and the manager and waiter kept asking us if we wanted anything at all...they were nice as could be. They had beer, soda, popcorn, nachos and cheese. What a great deal for free!

Everyone was quite friendly, from check in to check out to the gift shop. We were all in all very impressed by this hotel.
