We've been here 5 days and since the cold snap haven't been able to go in the pool once. Today the pool was 78 degrees, the warmest it's been since arriving.

If anyone else is renting a pool home right now - what is the temperature of your pool?

Hi "two", might be too late for you unless you have another week but most folks on these boards will advise getting pool heat October through at least March. Next time!

Have fun, maybe the neighbor would let you share the pool for a few complimentary cocktails!!!

Cold snap - that's the problem.

Most pool heaters are heat exchangers and if the temperature gets too low, it can't exchange enough heat to get the pool warmer.

If its 70 outside and the heat has to get up to 84 - that is a lot easier than getting from 50 to 82.

The pool heater will be working, and working very hard. (Without it, the pool would be much cooler than 78). Keeping a pool blanket on will help the pool stay warm, but really the ambient temperature needs to increase.

I was in FL in a cold snap once, and to be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to use the pool when it was so cold. We had to buy gloves and hats at the parks because we were so cold.:scared1:

We DO have pool heat! That's why I asked the question - and yes, we still have another 9 days for our vacation.

Have you contacted the management company? The one that manages the property we stayed at in Windsor Hills (Florida Sun Vacation) guarantees the pool heat to be between 80-85 degrees from October through March.

You may want to call the management company to see if there may be a problem with the heater on the pool.

I hope the weather warms up for you!

If you have pool heat, then there is something wrong. I definitely would call the management company right away. Perhaps they didn't turn it on or have it set too low???

Hi again, sorry about not knowing that you had pool heat. I agree something is wrong. The heater which looks like a big air conditioner is right next to all the pumping tubes next to the house. It should be running all the time if pool is chilly. If not something is wrong...and, yes, be sure the blanket is on at all times the pool is not in use is cool weather...Call the owner or the management company. I hope you get if fixed. It is no fun having a cold pool sitting right there in front of you...

We're at a pool home in Emerald Island right now and I brought my own thermometer with me and the pool is 89F. We've been swimming every day even the chilly days. This is the start of our third week here. It was very hot the first week or so then 3 days of Brrrr.
Also the pool guy was here today and ran extra water into the pool and told me that if it goes below a certain level that the pool pump/heater wouldn't come on. We had a problem with the spa heating up at first and they had to add some water to the pool.
